Try to be a little more gentle, and a little less bastant, when laying down your words. It's an un-important discussion-topic on the internett.
I think it's very possible to make a quality 16-70/80mm f/4 lens with 62mm filter thread. Do you think the biggest lens element on such a lens has to have the same dimensions as the 10-24mm f/4?
Comparing Mirrorless APS-C-size lenses with SLR APS-C-size lenses isn't fair. Mirrorless lenses can be built a lot smaller (with the same specs). The Fujifilm XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 OIS has 58mm filter thread. That lens is one stop brighter, way better optically, and way better built, than the typically APS-C SLR-kitlenses. For example Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS. But they have the same sized filter thread.
I think decreasing the aperture to f/4 on the wide end + giving it the 2mm extra wideness, will even out each other. When Fujifilm can make a good quality 18-55mm f/2.8-4 OIS zoom lens with 58mm, I also think it's possible for them to make a good quality 16-55mm f/4 OIS with 58mm. And then they will have something to play with for the rest of the reach.

The key for me is that it must be smaller and lighter than the 18-135mm, still with OIS. If it will fit somewhere in between the 18-55mm f/2.8-4 and the 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6, it would be great. Well. Like some said. At the size and weight of the 10-24mm. But give it 62mm filter diameter.

Or an 30mm f2.8 Tilt-Shift which would be equal to the Canon/Nikon in terms of FoV. A good allrounder. The cheapest way to have an TS now would be the TS adapter and a couple of old M42/FD/F-mount lenses.
I'd love to see the 100-400mm by Fuji anytime soon. And maybe a 300mm f4 prime.

10 mm 2.0 or 2.8 Prime
200 mm 2.8 Prime
56 1.2 with weather sealing
What are the chances fuji will weather seal there 56 1.2?, i know this is mostly for portrait but i like using this lens outside and WR also protects not just from rain but also dust

I'm afraid that this is not possible, for technical limits (slower processor, no phase detection pixels...) and, as other said, the X-PRO2 is long rumored to come within this year. So I guess Fuji will pack all these sweet new features in the X-PRO2... and maybe, thanks to the rumored EXR III processor, it should work even better!

I would be gobsmacked if Fuji did that.
As a great thing to do for their customers? - yeah I'd agree.
As a sensible business decision and valid use of technical resources that could be used on the X-Pro2?........ errr not so much
The very fact Fuji are making this kind of fundemental change to the X-T1 via firmware and not tied to a model refresh is utterly astounding. Quite apart from the quality of the cameras and lenses, this attitude on Fuji's part is one of the major reasons I so happy with Fuji. The issue of "version anxiety", where you don't know if you should buy now or wait for the next version to come out, just isn't such a problem with Fuji. The camera you buy today will become the next verison, just refreshed with a firmware update.

It would be awesome to have the firmware of the XT-1 to the X-pro1.
What you guys think?
