I've used 2 Chilipower batteries (alongside the original Fuji battery which came with my camera) for almost exactly a year now, ~12000 pics. I've been pretty careful to use each one about the same (batteries are numbered 1,2,3 and used/charged in order) so not like any one was more used than the others. Number of shots per charge from the Chilipowers was about the same as from the Fuji..didn't notice any difference anyway... BUT now the Chilipowers seem to have lost their shape - don't come out of the battery slot without having to shake the camera and the sides seem to have bulged a bit. No harm done as far as I can tell but decided that I didn't want to risk a permanently stuck/bursting battery..changed to original Fujis now so now using 3 Fujis....

Which lenses should I take to Thailand?
plasmolbio replied to paulhphotography's topic in General Discussion
Agree with milandro. I live in Thailand and travel quite a lot around the country. Though I like my 23 & 16-55 very much (maybe the 23 a little bit more), I end up using the 16-55 the most when I travel but the 23 mostly in Bangkok. -
I updated to firmware 4.20 (no double file fields for me)... But noticed (imagined?) something else - the video button works as a customisable Fn button but have to keep it pressed to activate the function assigned to it...like you would have done to start video recording. Will have to think some more about which function to assign to it. Update: Now realised that you can't use this button in M mode.. Can you think of an assignable function which you wouldn't use in manual mode?

What would be comparable to the 56mm F1.2
plasmolbio replied to Fran's topic in Adapting lenses to Fuji X
..or the new Rokinon 50/1.2? Manual focus though. -
Thanks darknj, that's what I decided to do in the end.

Thanks for answering a question I did not ask.

Can't find one for $49.99.

...but with an identical angle of view.

Yup, just for fun, playing around with a 'nifty fifty' equivalent before deciding on buying th xf35/1.4.

Has anyone used this lens with an x-mount camera? http://m.ebay.com/itm/251876186186 I'm thinking of getting this as a 'toy' lens while I make up my mind about the 35/1.4 (..or the rumored 33/1.0). Worried mainly about the c-to-x adapter which comes with this lens.

I like what you're doing with the lines on 3,4,5,6.

I'm not a big fan of hoods but do appreciate that they can in some cases help protect the lens. But I'm not going to use those humongous petal hoods Fuji sends out so any suggestions for metal lens hoods for: XF 23 mm (rectangular like the one for the 35mm lens would be great!...if there is such a thing) XF 16-55 mm (would have to be quite short given how wide it starts..probably no more than 2 cm hood length?) Suggestions for other lenses welcome too...others may need them!! UPDATE 29/6/15: Ordered these standard metal hoods from gadgetworldexports - 62 mm, 77 mm. Nice thing is that they're compatible with these caps..need to get the 67 mm cap for the 62 mm hood and 82 for the 77. Next update when I've got and tried them!!

Exactly the question I was asking myself - I'm going to get an X-T1 + 23mm (daily use) + a zoom (travel) combo for my 40th birthday and was undecided between the 18-135 and the 16-55. The weight and size differences between the 2 zooms are not huge (price difference is!)...there's something very appealing about a high-quality constant aperture zoom (not least the marked aperture ring with hard stops) which is why I was leaning towards the 16-55. After reading these posts, especially those from demubckma and Noah who look like they're using the lens for the same things as I will, I might just have fallen over for the 16-55! Now should I get the MHG-XT as well.....???
