My neighbor did a while back. A Canon 200, 2.8. The lens developed a focusing problem six months after, but she had purchased the warranty. The repair took quite a while.
Unfortunately these lenses have been used by my folks who don't care for them like a single owner would. You would think the single owner knows someday he/she may sell it and condition is everything. Also, lenses don't have shutter actuation counts, so who knows how much it was used. A sports lens on continuous focus gives the motors far more operation than a landscape one would.
