I've just updated my X-T4 to v.1.20 also. My EF-X8 works as it should.Take a look at contacts and make sure they are clean on the camera hot shoe and on the flash. Finger grease or grime can sometimes block the connection. a fibreglass contact cleaning pen or a drop of alcohol on a cotton bud will do the trick. I hope this helps?
