Why are Amazon ads allowed in this Forum's posts? Of course I've already looked at the Amazon reviews, and if I was interested in a Fujifilm camera, I would have posted on that topic. It's annoying that Amazon is so "everywhere"

I'm considering purchasing the Tamron 150-500mm for my X-T5. I've read generally favorable reviews. Has anyone actually used this lens? If so, what are your impressions? What have you found it most useful for?

I recently updated my Pixel 6 to a Pixel 10. Now no more connection issues. I'll never know why. Both phones were running Android 16.

I've read a couple of threads on the subject and I'm convinced I'm following the connection procedure correctly, but it's not working. Equipment: Fujifilm X-T5 firmware version 3.41; Pixel 6 Pro (Android 16) Here's what I'm doing On the camera, press/hold Bluetooth button, select Bluetooth Pairing Select "new device" in my Android bluetooth menu. Select X-T5. Camera shows Pairing code. Codes on phone and camera match. Press OK on camera to continue. Within a couple of seconds, Press "Pair" on the phone screen. It's my understanding that at this point, the pairing should be confirmed. However what happens on my camera is that pressing Pair on the camera does not close that screen; "Please confirm that this code is displayed on your smartphone" continues to display on my smart phone. My phone bluetooth says it is paired to the camera, and the X App is running in the background. After a couple of minutes, the Pairing screen on the camera tells me "no confirmation on you smartphone. Continue?"

I'm currently using the 70-300 plus the Fuji 1.4x teleconverter for nature photography. I can usually get the final results I want by upscaling and cropping the image. I would like to have more focal length up front. So I started looking at the Fujifilm 100-400, then the Sigma 100-400. After comparing the two, the Sigma won except for one thing- my fuji teleconverter is not compatible and according to Sigma support they have no plans for creating an xMount teleconverter- which is a deal breaker for me because there are times I will want more magnification that the 100-400 lens alone can offer. I mean, if I'm going to spend $800 on a lens I want to be able to realize its full potential. I'm wondering if other Fujifilm X camera owners have been in a similar conundrum. If so what would you recommend? Stick with the 70-300 + teleconverter? Look at 3rd party manual lenses? a used DSLR lens?

X-S10 doesn't display MF Assist views when in Manual mode
LeesKeys replied to LeesKeys's topic in Fuji X-S10 / Fuji X-S20
just discovered part of the solution by going back and reading the manual again (duh!). I needed to press the focus stick to zoom in. With that done, combined with MF Assist at Peak, it's much easier to precisely adjust the focus. Still can't get Split and Microprism to work, but that may be operator error! -
Trying to figure out what I've overlooked. I have a Meike 60mm manual macro lens attached to my XS10. I have "shoot without lens" turned on and focus set to MF, camera in manual mode. When I go to the MF Assist menu, I can select any of the options (eg. Standard, Split, Peak). Only Peak seems to work. If I select a different one, for example Split, there is a gray square in the center of the viewfinder, but nothing happens within the square when I manually focus. What am I missing?

Good information, thanks. For rapid shooting such as a focus bracketing series, is there an advantage with mechanical versus electronic shutter?
-
Using my X-s10 with focus bracketing. I've found that even though I have the interval set at 0 seconds, after I initiate the sequence, the shutter will fire 15 or 20 times then, pause a few seconds, fire a few more, pause again, and repeat this pattern until the series is finally finished. Thinking about it now, I wonder if it has something to do with the memory card I'm using. (Transcend R95 w60MB/s). Thoughts?

Received mine a couple of days ago. This is going to be a great lens for macro as well as bird photography (have the 1.4x converter on order). This is a shot I took yesterday with the XF70-300 (0vercast, late afternoon) at 300mm from minimal focus distance (about 2.5 ft). On tripod, ISO 2000, F/10, 1/450s Photo here

I have the new XF 70-300mm on order and am trying to decide between the 1.4 and 2x converter. I will be using lens + converter mainly for wildlife/bird photography. Yes I know that the 2x will drop my max aperture by 2 stops, and the 1.4 by 1 stop. I'm wondering if any one has actual hands-on experiences with these converters. I would love to hear your observations.

I was about to place a for sale ad on Ebay for my XC50-230 lens when I started thinking- there must be some good camera forums for making private sales. Any recommendations?

Received the Received the Tonika SZX lens today. It is very sturdy and solid. Smooth focus. Mounts easily onto my S-10. I've only taken a few pics. Today it's been very rainy in eastern NC. I took some pics through my dining room window which placed the camera about 15 feet from the bird feeder. The camera was on a sturdy tripod. I was very close to the window and I don't think shooting through the glass had any appreciable negative effect on the results. See link for pictures. The first picture is straight from the camera. Although I was able to focus fairly easily on the birds beak, the body becomes progressively out of focus towards the tail due to the extremely shallow depth of field. Although it was a very overcast day, I was underwhelmed by the lack of contrast produced in the image. I ran the image through two programs- Topaz AI Sharpen to sharpen it up , and ON1 to add microcontrast and selective sharpening. The result (2nd picture) is acceptable although not breath taking. Not sure about keeping the lens yet. I'll shoot some more tomorrow and hopefully it will be sunnier than today. Pictures here

I decided to try the Tokina 400mm mirror lens. Ordered from Amazon, and a free return if I don't like it.

Thanks for the info Jerry. A lot more options than I realized. With a manual focus third party lens, would the manual focus assist in my X-S10 still work?
-
Thanks! Can Sigma lenses be mounted on Fuji X cameras? Would an adapter be needed? if so, can you recommend one?

For nature photography, is there any alternative to the XF100-400mm lens? I'm retired, and that's way outside my budget. Even a 3rd party fixed focal manual focus lens which could be adapted to my X-S10 would be ok. I'm thinking the answer to my question is No 🤔. I have an XC50-230mm, but need more magnification.
