You can upgrade/buy the standalone version of LR6. You don't have to subscribe. Presumably if you do want to subscribe at a later date you can swop over to the subscribe option. LR6 standalone gets all the major updates e.g. aditioanl cameras, new versions of Adobe Camera Raw etc just as the subscribed version does.
