  1. The pin configuration will likely not be a problem. The issue with non compliant flashes is the trigger voltage. If the trigger voltage of the flash is too high it will damage the camera. Not likely an issue with a modern DSLR flash though. Usually these problems come from older film era flash units. If id does fire it will be fully manual and only fire full power of course.

    1. This won't work with non native lenses. Just checked. It works fine with my Fuji lenses but as soon as I put a non native lens on it does not work. A good workaround that I use instead is to shoot with my thumb on the focus assist button. This works better because you can go back and forth between zoomed and normal view when you want. If you hold the focus assist button you can also change the function and activate split screen or focus peaking. Not sure why this is not working on your native Fuji lens though? Fuji is notorious for some settings canceling out other settings. Hard to say which could be the culprit though?

  2. With the X-T1 in auto focus mode you can  set the AEL button to On/Off switch. This way you press the ael button once and it locks your current focus. You can release the button and the focus stays locked. Then take as many pictures as you want.

    OR

In manual focus mode use the ael button to lock focus. Press it and camera focusses focus locks. Then take as many pictures as you want.
