Image DescriptionWe found this tree of cherry blossoms near Lake Merritt, Oakland. They were blooming almost full, and I believe this is the kind called "Kwanzan" here.
According to Wikipedia etc, this is the kind also seen very often in Japan, as Yamazakura or even "Japanese Cherry", and their leaves come out before the flowers bloom. (If you know much more please correct me!)
They were beautiful, and I happen to have the lens I inherited from my grandfather who lived in Yamagata, Japan. I'm sure he had no idea that his grandson will be moving to USA one day, capturing the Japanese flowers using his lens. Thanks to Fotodiox' converter for Fuji Mirrorless Cameras to Nikon Nikkor F Mount lens.
