Fujifilm 16-55 f2.8 sharpness problem

Good day,

I have an issue with my 16-55 f2.8

when I take pictures with this lens, the parts that are out of focus tend to have this strange ghosting, as if the lens was dirty or something, this mostly happens  when I focus something that is not to close, and when the lens is  zoomed and wide open, also, images tend to look soft in some pictures, I have seen other pictures on the internet with this lens and those don't seem to have this problem.

I also have a 35 mm f2 and I dont have any issue with this lens, I shoot on an Xt3.

I have uploaded some pictures where I see this issue,

this one is unedited, the issue happens on the branch to the right

this one is edited, as you can see, it happens on the leaves below and right of the statue.

this one is edited too, on this one you can see it on the nearest plants.

I hope this helps understand my issue, any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

It would be helpful if you indicated what aperture you are using and where in the frame you are focusing.

Hi stevie,

this were all shot at 2.8, sometimes this gets better at around 4, but sometimes it also happens at this aperture too,

on the first picture focus is in the middle of the frame, on the barbed wire

on the second the focus is on the statue

on the third picture the focus is on the farthest green plants that appear on the front, near the center of the frame

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you!

That's what happens when you use wide apertures. If you want more of your image to be sharp use a smaller aperture.

Hi, thank you for your response,

I know how depth of field works, the problem is that the parts out of focus look weird, as if the lens was defective, the look as if the lens was hazy which is not.
