Artifacts X-T3 in video

Recommended Posts

Hello. While using my X-T3 I encountered artifacts in video mode. With a white balance of 2500 and a transition to the blue spectrum, purple spots appear.

Additional settings: 4k or FullHD, eterna picture prof, S tone -2, iso 640,  diaphragm 2.8-22, DR 400, shutter speed 1\40 - 1\200. Software 3.00

This is evident on dark objects or on a yellow-green color. In the video, this effect is not visible. With atomos ninja 5 this effect is present. I also filmed this on video. Who faced such a problem? What could it be?

Video artifact   (atomos ninja 5) :

Thank you in advance.

Yes I noticed these lowlight compression artefacts as well, Square blocks...like being burned in on the sensor. Any suggests Fuji?

Probably you have already figured out the solution, but I noticed that al the film simulations loose a stop or so of light so you will have to have a lot more light. Also - what if you set DR at 100? I think you may be causing issues using DR - maybe do a test at 100 with lots of ight and also compare to flog at iso800 and see if the issue is the simulation for the exposure and DR you have selected. BTW can you look at my post and maybe help with Ninja V sample?

Hi, I wrote to the representative office of Russia. Here is the official answer (translated into english by google translator):

We conducted a thorough diagnosis and revealed the appearance of a similar effect in some conditions both on your camera and on other test specimens. It is impossible to eliminate this phenomenon, since its appearance is due to the very structure of the camera components. This effect is not a malfunction, your camera passes the tests and meets the declared technical specifications, so you can continue to use the camera. We understand that the appearance of an effect may impose limitations in some specific shooting conditions. If the manufacturer develops any change regarding this effect, we will be able to service your camera. We hope for your understanding Regards, Fujifilm Information Center.

    • Hi Nikolai and welcome! I have been shooting video on Fujifilm almost 10 years. I have X-H2 and X-H2s bodies and a selection of lenses. Looking forward to more stuff from you! Cheers, Paul Szilard in Sydney, Australia
    • Hi, I make videos for my full time work and for pleasure. I record videos with the X-S10 internally (8-bit, so no Log) and no external monitor, using the Eterna film simulation with DR set to 400 for maximum dynamic range, Continuous AF (or Single AF for static shots) and I edit in Adobe Premiere Pro. I usually shoot on tripods or hand held. Here is an example of my work, shot on X-S10, hand holding the unstabilized Fujinon XF 16-55 f/2.8 and XF 50 f/2.0 lenses. What do you think? Do let me know if you have any questions.
    • Hi, I am Nikolai, a self taught hybrid shooter from Norway with a background in arts and graphic design, and I work for the City of Oslo (the photo on the front page is by me, as of March 22, 2023). I deliver a wide arrange of photography and video. I document the city, city life and its inhabitants, but also anything shoot from portraiture and corporate head shots to interior photography and even food photography (I made a cook book for internal communication purposes). Attached is an example of a bus ad, 2.5 meters tall. It was so sharp, you could read the logo on the shirt! The videos I do are mainly for social media and are basically presentations or information for the public or staff, interviews and documentary style stuff for showcasing our projects. This is an example of street interviews I did during the pandemic: https://www.facebook.com/Oslo/videos/149919900421495 I use the X-S10 with the Fujinon xF 16-55 f/2.8 and Fujinon XF 50-140 f/2.8. I record videos internally (8-bit, so no Log), using the Eterna profile with DR set to 400 for maximum dynamic range when needed, and find it more than good enough for my needs. I edit in Adobe Premiere Pro. I sometimes help friends out with music videos and photography too. Below is an example of a video shot hand held with the X-S10 and the unstabilized 16-55 f/2.8 and 50 f/2.0 lenses. What do you think?

    • From YouTube's own specifications:
    • I have tried a bunch of small/portable/affordable lights, but I feel they are never powerful enough. I wish I bought some more powerful lights from the beginning, instead of setting up a whole array of smaller lights that never seem adequate. I am currently using two Godox LED500LRC and three Aputure HR672C's, but I wish they were stronger (and softer!). My daylight-only version of the HR672 is much stronger. The best on-camera light I could find (at the time, some time ago) was Aputure's F7. So my recommendation is to get something more powerful than you might think, or multiple lights.
