** Firmware request: Shutter speed in video **

*** Firmware request ***
Is the X-H1 really "Video oriented"? Not enough.
I would like to see in the MOVIE SETTING, an option where I can select the default shutter speed for the 30 and 60 on the shutter speed dial, only when I am in MOVIE MODE, obviously.
On the 60 position I could select by default: none(stay in 60) - 50 - 48, and on 30 position I could select the default shutter speed: none(stay in 30), 25 or 24.
Which are the most used shutter speed on cinema. Then, when I put the shutter speed on 30 or 60, I get faster the speed that I really need.

Forgive me for not understanding, I'm not exactly sure what you're asking here. You can specify 48, 24, 30, 60 in the movie settings in-camera and when switching over to video mode, it will display that framerate. Are you saying you want to see it on the top selector dial instead or the opposite?

Yes, indeed, is not clear enough. I try to explain it better: 👍

Currently, when I am in Movie mode if I set the video quality on FHD at 24P and I want film at the speed ss24, I must turn the Shutter speed dial to 30, then with the rear command dial adjust the speed until ss24. It's a lot of gestures for a so simple thing.
What I would like is that in video mode (only), when I set the Shutter speed dial to 30, it go automatic on 24 and not 30. Then in video mode, the 30 is setted on 24 or whatever I want, e.g: 25, or 30. Idem for the 60 position, I would like to have the possibility to set it on 50, or 48 by default.
For this, is necessary to add in the menu on the Movie setting a new string where I can set what is my favourite speed for the 30 or the 60 position on the Shutter speed dial.

Another solution: It could be much simpler if the movie settings and a shutter degree angle setting are synchronized automatically. So that depending on which frame rate I’m shooting and it will automatically set the shutter speed to the 180° setting or anything else that I said it to. I believe the Panasonic GH series does it this way.

Is it better now? 😀

I understand now, thanks.

However, on MY XH1, I don't need to do this as the shutter speed automatically switches no matter what position the command dial is in previously. When you switch to movie mode and you have a shutter speed set at say, 1/180th of a second, does the top LCD not say 24p (or whatever you chose under 'movie settings')? Your chosen setting under 'movie settings' should override any command dial setting and display the correct framerate on the top lcd, is what I'm trying to say.

Of course, this isn't completely intuitive because you're sitting there looking at a dial that says 1/180th, but that's what you get with mechanical dials in a digital body. The only way they could synchronize it would be to add some kind of motor to the dial itself, allowing it to automatically turn to your chosen speed when you flip into video mode, I suppose.

Are you sure?
What you read on the top of LCD is only the video frame rate, not the shutter speed. It's completely different. The shutter speed is shown below, if you put 180 on the dial, the shutter speed is at 1/180th even the frame rate is at 24 or 25 or 50.

You're right, the phrasing of the question is still confusing me, lol.

So, you're right. When shooting video I usually (and probably obviously) just select my framerate in settings and then double my selected shutter speed using the T(time) selector on my wheel, then fine tune to whatever I want it to be using the command dials. It's really not that big a deal for me to take the extra few seconds to select the shutter speed, but everyone has different degrees of need in this regard, I suppose.

The issue I see with making it automatic in settings is that the amount of users with this particular need is probably very low. I'm personally all over the map in video depending on the scene in question and not always using a specific framerate AND shutter speed every single time I shoot video.

You could also use the T mode on the shutter speed dial and adjust on the fly using your command dial.

I do it this way and find it much faster than using the top dial every time i need to switch my framerate thus my shutter speed.

Yes sachafilms, indeed, it's faster. I never thought to use the T mode in this way. I just test it and the good thing is that it remember the last speed used.
I think it solve in great part my problem.
Thank you

Glad to hear that!
All that being said and even if I think Fuij's ergonomics are great, I would love to be able to save multiple video presets and restore them with a function button... that would be amazing!

I completely agree, the C1, C2... in the Q (Quick menu) button is useless. They can't save no presets, just some preferences, but not a full setting.

      My problem:
My X-t30 no longer lets me record video. Nothing happens when I push the shutter button in video mode.
      Background:
      - My main use for this camera is for recording video projects at my workplace.
      - I noticed the issue after using the camera as a webcam with a elgato camlink 4k. I had optimised the in-camera settings for use as a webcam during the past months of Zooming everyday.
      My attempted fixes so far:
      - I reverted all my in-camera settings back to my usual, non-webcam settings.
      - I updated the firmware to the latest version.
      -  Many google searches to see if anyone else has had and posted a fix to this issue.

What are the best zoom lenses and prime lenses for 4K 24 FPS video on the XT-4?  I'm looking to duplicate the film days as closely as I can.  The greatest like Steven Spielberg (Schindler's List, E.T. The Extraterrestrial, Duel), John Carpenter (Escape from New York/L.A., Big Trouble in Little China).

I plan to do Black and White, and color.

      Thanks.

      Good morning,
      I have a problem with my x-t30
I'm not able to record any video because after a few second the video is automatically stopped and I can't understand why.
      I can't record more than 8/15 seconds.
Does anyone know which is the problem?
      Many thanks
      have a nice day

Just curious, is there a significant user base on this site that shoots video and therefore is there (or should it be created??) a Video forum that I couldn't find?
I happen to be the president of the Sydney Video Makers Club in Australia, and have a keen interest to shoot both video and stills using my Fuji system, having escaped from 20+ years of using Nikon.

      Good morning everyone,
I'm a Fuji lover since the day they came up with that old fashioned looking xpro - what a great story they have built to become a solid challenger to the Canon, Nikon & Sony of this world.
I'm using my XT3 primarily for video creation and am looking at switching to the XT4, due to the stabilization and therefore capacity to film handheld in some situations. I'm also considering switching from the standard lens kit (18-55 f2.8-4) to the 16-55 f2.8, which however doesn't have built in stab.
My question: (i) from what the IBIS can do on other cameras (XH1?), do you expect it can offset the lack of lens stab?, (ii) I've read somewhere that should you mount your fuji on a DJI Ronin stabilizer and connect it, you may lose the in camera stabilization - is this fake or real?
thanks a lot for your help (from Paris, France !)

    • Follow these steps: - put an empty/formatted card in the camera - go into Set Up/Save Data Set-up/Frame No. : change to RENEW - take a single picture (this will be DSCF0001), turn off the camera and remove the card - copy your original picture (DSCF1478) onto the card (You could also change the name of the DSCF0001 file in your computer if you no longer have the original DSCF1478) - put this card in the camera and turn it on - before taking any pictures change RENEW
    • I have the 10. I don't think the 13 will fit. The 10 fits tightly into the bottom of the pack, which is good because it won't get shaken around.

    • Can I update X-T2 firmware from ver 3.00 to ver 4.32 in one step?
    • im new to this forum but no stranger to fuji  @LEEP sorry to hear your having issues as well!  I’ve been shooting on an xt1 since the first release, I just upgraded to the xt4 last week.  As soon as I unpacked it, fiddled with it and connected it to my phone, it prompted for a firmware update and I figured why not.... bad move? Jury is still out.  since then, randomly, maybe every third time I go to use the camera it won’t turn on. I’ll have to completely remove the battery and put it b
