Capture One Pro + GFX 50S tethering

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I downloaded the new version of Capture One 11.3, which supports tether shooting on GFX cameras, but I'm having some trouble getting things to work properly.

When I connect up the GFX 50S to my MacBook Pro the software sees the camera and lets me trigger it remotely. But the RAW image that's transferred over only shows up as a VERY low res preview. The rest of the image is missing. The files have transferred, because I can see them on Finder and open them through Lightroom/Photoshop. Whatsmore, I can shoot Raw files to card and open them in Capture One 11.3 OK.

Anyone else had any problems?

Ian

Yes, I'm also having problems, but they seem more fundamental than yours! I'm using the full version of Capture One Pro 11.3. The GFX 50S is not recognised at all when I try to tether it. It is connected to the computer (MacBook Pro) properly, as it shows up in Fujifilm X Acquire - which also means it's not the cable causing the problem. My PhaseOne connects normally, but C1 thinks the GFX 50S isn't there. I've tried all the different settings in the connection menu on the camera, and it makes no difference. The Fuji raw files are recognised when imported - it's just the tethering that isn't working.

Any thoughts/experiences would be very welcome.

Bruce

Bruce -

Just off top of my head, try quitting Fuji Aquire. It might be hijacking the cameras connection to your MBP.

Strangely, after speaking with CO support, mine started working perfectly without me changing anything. Not sure why so I don’t have full confidence in the set up yet. But quality of Raw conversions in clearly superior to ACR.

Let me know how you get on?

I just want to make sure I'm doing this correctly and getting everything I can out of this software. Having to purchase an extra plugin and opening different windows just to take a picture makes this feel like something's not right.  I did watch the instructional video but it sort of stops right at the point where you start using the software.  I guess aside from the tether program acting completely disconnected from Lightroom, I can't get focus to work.

I'm on LR CC and have purchased the Fuji Tether Plugin Pro v 1.602.  My XT-2 is on FW 2.10. I open LR and start a new tethered session; File > Tethered Capture > Start new Tethered Capture.  I get a control window that pops up once it recognizes my camera and I can take pictures with the 'shutter' button.  These photos show up in my Library in LR.

I can also go to my menu bar and select Show Fuji Tether Plugin Pro.  This brings up a window which, by default, is on Camera (USB) on the left and Preview on the right.  This view does absolutely nothing. I can select PC from the menu on the left which also at first does nothing until I select LIVE VIEW on the right.  Now I can see my camera and make some exposure adjustments.  So, when I want to view what my camera sees, I should not use the menu that says Camera and instead use PC.

What It seems I can not do is use the AF/MF Settings.  Once I turn on Focus Area, I can click in my frame to designate a focus area but that doesn't actually tell my camera to focus.  When I click on my shutter button, nothing happens. I can not take a picture with the AF/MF Settings turned on.

In the Preferences for Fuji Tethered Plugin Pro, there's an option to "Specify action of clicking on the Live View window". The options are Move Focus Area, Instant AF, and Instant AF and Shoot. The first one is the only one that results in a proper action.

If I exit out of the Fuji Tethered Plugin Pro and just use the built in LR capture tool, my camera will focus as expected.

Please let me know what things I'm getting wrong. All I want to do is see a large view of my subject, click to focus, and take a picture. I've spent too much time and money trying to make this work.

I imported X-Pro2 files into Capture One Pro yesterday for the first time since I installed 9.2.1.19. I use an XF 35 f/2 lens, and was shocked to see lens corrections applied when I started to crop one of the RAF files! I'm curious if Phase One has added support for any other lens profiles on the quiet.

      Hello dear fellow Fuji-x community,
I'm a happy X-pro2 user, that's no doubt. Unfortunately I would like to refer a problem I have with capture one. After about 2 months of shared mailed with the customer service of C1, it appears that the raw files lens distortions of the X-pro2 can't be corrected for now. I also have to state that in the meantime they released 2 updates (9.1.2 and 9.2).
Until now they stated that the problem was more complicated than expected and requested my patience.
Somebody has the same problem I have ? to be honest I doubt it's a difficult problem to solve, and I begin to be very upset with the C1 company (I can't recommend the customer service, if someone is interested I can post the mail exchange I had).

      Thank you for reading,
      Quentin
