Which film simulation mode best for Landscape

Hi Folks,

I have a new X100F - which I am very much enjoying.

I am going bush walking in sunny Australia this weekend.

I am interested to hear from forum members their opinions about which film simulation mode is best for landscapes.

I use Provia/standard for almost everything and tweak in post-processing.  Works for me but lots of folks like the very subtle effects of others.  When I don't use standard, I go to Classic Chrome.

Since you are shooting landscapes, why not try an assortment of simulations on each shot or at least some shots to compare on your monitor or prints later?

Yes, Velvia works well, but the lens on the X100F has a fairly warm rendering, and I find that with Velvia it can sometimes make the greens (in particular) a bit too vivid for my taste. I like Astia, too: it's a little bit more subtle, though still nicely colourful. And you can't go too far wrong with Provia, which is well-balanced as to colour and contrast. It's all a matter of taste, though. Why not play around with these three for starters, and then enjoy experimenting with the rest.

Thanks for the advice folks.

So, I went out this afternoon to Gara Gorge - which is in the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park (NSW Australia).

It was late afternoon and the sun was setting. I used  the Velvia simulation. I am really happy with the X100F and love the the lens flare effect I was able to achieve in some shots. These are all out of camera jpegs - the only editing was some subtle cropping of the edges of a few shots.
