on1 just gets better and better

Recommended Posts

Hi all thought I would comment here

on1 just gets better and better I have been using it for past 9mths and with every update it keeps

adding more and more,

next update I think we will get merging Panoramas and focus stacking, HDR stacking

and various other fixes.

I got rid of light room and Photoshop I now use Serif Affinity and on1  get by just fine

yes Lightroom was and is very good but not so good with Fuji X-T2 if you have to remove noise in my opinion

and I don't have to pay a fee every month its not a matter of paying the fee to Adobe,

its the principal of paying

I like to own my software,  and one more point Adobe treats its customers like £/$ signs  that's all you are

just look at the stand alone LR  you never get the updates that CC/users get,

  just not good enough

well I have ranted enough

but seriously  on1PhotoRaw  is worth trying out you get a free trial  and so is Serif-Affinity

two  upcoming  software programs in  my opinion

I have nothin to do with either of them but I bought both  and I'm glad I  have them great with Fuji files

Agreed fully really Adobe. When my 'subscription' runs out I shall drop it. I also use Affinity Photo and Designer, which I think are pretty good too. I have Capture 1 V10, also and on the few images I have used it on so far it has been great especially skin tones.

I'm using a combination of On1 Photo Raw and Affinity Photo. (stopped my subscribtion to adobe a few month's ago)

Most things I can do in on1 Photoraw, and I'm using AF (affinity photo) if something extra is needed, or for focus stacking and panorama's.

Not everything is super, On1 doesn't have the same film simulations as fuji (it has some but they don't look the same). The raw previews in browse mode are not always correct. (in develop mode they are)

Affinity photo, is lousy when using it for raw development, slow, underexposes dr200/dr400 shots, or better said doesn't use them.

So for now I'm using photoraw for raw development and send the tif to affinity.

But one thing is sure, they work and the speed of on1 photo raw shows how far Lightroom is lagging.

ON1 PhotoRaw 2018 has panorama as a new function - The Beta was released yesterday and the final version comes late october. Download free to try it out. Also, HDR, Versions (make alternate versions of a photo), new masking options etc.

I have similar objections to using Adobe, but in reality I have never like LR, having tried it several times from v1.  I use Capture One Pro instead, but actually Apple's Photos is starting to come alive now, with the update in High Sierra.
