56mm 1.2 reading f0

Hey everyone,

I've tried googling the problem, but the only thing I can come up with seems to be a firmware update gone wrong, which is not the case here.

I was in the middle of a session when my 56mm 1.2 stopped focusing and snapping.  The back of the lcd reads the lens as f0.

I can see through the lens via my lcd screen, but it's out of focus.  Even manual focus won't work.  I've tried changing the aperture ring and still get nothing.  I've also tried this lens on 2 different xt2 bodies.  All of my other lens works just fine.

Hoping it's not a hardware issue.  I wanted to check here for suggestions before resorting to mailing it in for service.

well, the signs are of your lens no longer being completely coupled to the camera.

 

You could try giving a clean to the contacts of your lens but it might be very well the case that the lens has lost an electrical connection (or more) internally.

 

Manual focus won’t work too because it is focus by wire lens, I think.

I agree with Milandro. When you put an adapted lens with no electrical contacts on the camera it reads as f/0, so I think that clearly indicates a loss of electrical connection.

When I shot Nikon there were a couple of times I saw F0 and in both cases I didn't have the lens 100% on the camera.  Good things I noticed it because it would have just been a matter of time before it fell off!
