I'm trying to learn off camera lighting.  I used a 60 inch Photek Softlighter with an Einstein at 1/64 power camera left boomed high as a single light triggered with CyberSync.  Savage thunder gray seamless backdrop.  I over processed retouching probably in LR but was more concerned with getting the lighting correct than the portrait edits.  Hard to take a pics of yourself using the self timer.  X-T1 with 18-55.

Light looks good to me. Soft enough for flattering portraits, good angle, nice catchlights. Simple, plain background.

The results from using this set up should be effective, although you may want to experiment with different set ups and backgrounds, simply because this style has been over-used by professional photographers?

I would throw a white reflector opposite the light just to fill the shadows a tiny bit, gives it a much more produced look and you can always go back and darken the shadows later if you don't like it. Other than that, thats a solid look for a portrait of pretty much anyone, softlighters are super versatile
