My X-T1 hotshoe mystery...

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I have somewhat a trivial question but its bothering me.

I purchased a refurbished X-T1 and also bought a third-party hotshoe cover to go with it.

It fit perfectly, but I had to return the camera because the box was not sealed properly and the sensor was not clean. It clearly had been opened before, and after speaking directly with Fujifilm they said that this was not up to their standards.

Today I received a replacement. Box was sealed and everything looked great. But the same hotshoe cover that I used on the previous body does not fit. It is too loose and falls right out, when on the previous body it fit snug.

Thoughts? Did they ever modify the hotshoe on newer models of the X-T1? Could something be wrong? Not a big deal but I'm perplexed.

There seems to be quite a wide range of tolerance on Fuji hotshoes, and this can be a nuisance with on-camera flash. I've noticed over the years that flash units that fit well on one camera are a little loose on another. (Currently, for example, my X500 flash fits well on my X-T2 but is loose - to the point of sometimes losing contact - on my X-Pro2.) As to your hotshoe cover, you might find that a different one fits fine - you can usually find packets of 3rd-party covers cheap on Amazon. If you find the camera's hotshoe is giving you problems with flash units, it is a fairly simple fix if you can get the camera back to Fuji.

    • Not sure how to delete threads, but I figured out what was wrong. In short, I was partially misunderstanding the view-mode's function. Also, the "+LCD Image Display" part requires that you have the Image Disp. setting set to anything but Off. Then it will display your last image on the LCD. If it's off, it's behavior will be exactly like the plain Eye Sensor setting.
    • Hi everyone   I find why it did that, it was because I shot with the flash at the second curtain.

    • Does it use wi-fi when you are not specifically attempting to transfer files?
    • Hello dear Fujifolks - I come from 54 years of shooting Nikon cameras, and this is my first Fujifilm experience as I've just sold my Nikon D7200 in exchange for a tiny but endearing X-T20. Very pleased with it as it's so lightweight, but very well built. But takes some getting used to the menus and settings after Nikon's DSLR functional simplicity ! I'm working on it though and slowly coming to terms with the new system. My question for now is this: is there any way to turn OFF the wifi antenna in the camera ? I'm particularly wifi signal sensitive and have no intention of using that function as I do all my editing and printing on my PC. I've checked the wifi menu options but cannot find a simple wifi ON-OFF selector. Thanks for your help and I'll be back with more Q's when needed. Blessings to you all...
