27mm f2.8 wow!

Recommended Posts

I just bought the Fujinon 27mm f2.8 really cheap and took it for a spin this weekend. Wow! It is super sharp, contrasty and the colors are PUNCHY! My 35mm f1.4 is all pastel colored and dreamy looking compared to this little beast. Love both lenses, but I am truly positively surprised by that 27mm.

I don't like the look of the lens, don't like it's missing aperture ring, but it's my most used lens by far! Why? The output is great, the lens is small and I have a third party lenshood, just for the looks. Together with the X-Pro1 it's a big WOW!

My 27mm is permanently attached to my wife's X-E1, but I liked that lens so much that I've started browsing ebay for used copies for myself. Most of my work is done with the 23mm and 35mm f/1.4 lenses. I greatly prefer the f/1.4 versions of those lenses for general use, so the 27mm is the perfect complement to them for low-key street photography.

It is a surprising little workhorse of a lens. Right now it's glued to my X Pro. I got a clean used copy in excellent condition for little over $200 USD last year and haven't looked back. Almost wish I could find another. I love it for travel when I am on a weight budget. The photos are great and it just gets out of the way.
