XT-2 random behaviour

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I've been using my XT-2 for several mouths now and I was using the camera this weekend to shoot a charity event. This was quite a fast paced shoot and I was constantly moving around to different locations and using the camera in Continous AF with both the 16-55mm lens and the 100-400mm lens.

On quite a number of occasions I found the camera locked up and the focus joystick stopped working and sometimes all controls stopped too. The only way to fix this was cycled the power. There didn't seem to be any particular pattern to this behaviour. But it obviously meant I missed quite a number of shoots when it happened!

Then later that day I swapped to the 100-400 lens and the camera just started shooting on its own, as if in burst mode when I switched it on. This was very disconcerting and the only way to fix this was cycled the power again. I was using the battery grip in boost mode.

I was wondering if others have experienced these issues?

That unfortunately sound like something that needs to be checked out by Fujifilm. I was thinking that the lens contacts could maybe need cleaning, but then you wrote that it started shooting by itself with the 100-400.

I have had a couple of lock-ups that required removing the battery, when I used a third party flash that was probably poorly seated in the hotshoe. Hasn't happened since.

Thanks I've been in touch with Fuji and they are going to check the camera for me.

Oh I've had the burst shooting on my X-T2 as you explained it happen a couple of times.  I found that it seems to occur in humid/wet conditions more than anywhere else.  Very odd behavior.  I have no plans of sending it in to Fuji at this point as it only happens here and there.  If they are anything like Nikon they'll send it back and say they could not replicate the problem.  So, until this is particular burst shooting issue becomes a constant, I'll just deal with it as it happens.
