Hi, I just got my new X-S20.

One of the main reasons I got it, is IBIS, as my main field of use is filming. I come from an X-T20, I loved it but the lack of IBIS, amongst other things, limited me a lot as I mainly shot handheld.

I like to go light, so I like to bring the smallest lens possible, and that's why I expected to use the XC 15-45, which is small, light, has some OIS, and the lens quality is ok for filming. The unit I have is not part of the kit, I just got it second hand. 

I tried the camera stabilization using IBIS + OIS setting + Mode Boost, with three lenses:

XC 15-45 3.5-5.6

FX 27mm 2.8 ( only IBIS )

XF 18-55mm 2.8-4

The kind of stabilization I am looking for and trying is with static shots, no camera move, almost like a picture. I am not looking for a gimball simulation.

But the stabilization with the 15-45 ( testing at 45mm in the video, but same behavior with the 15mm end and any other focal length )
is even worse than when I used it with my X-T20, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AM8Gisbr0SY, it's like the body is not using IBIS with it at all. It catches my heart beats and every micro shake.

The only way I can somehow make the IBIS react and be a bit more responsive is by shaking the lens a bit, and then it becomes a bit more stable as in this test, but not to the pair with other fixed lenses I tried, it actually might be just an illusion and there's no significant improvement.

How come that is possible? The camera is supposed to be sold with this lens, so I expect it to work perfectly as a combination.

Any idea what could be happening?

The lens is updated with the latest firmware 1.12, and the camera body too 3.11.

I also cleaned the lens contacts just in case. 

The most logical reason for this it that the lens OIS is not working properly for some reason but the camera can't tell, ( I have not another same lens to try ) if I would be getting similar results with non OIS lenses all would make sense, but that's not the case, it works great with them, much better, actually.

    • Which direction is the light source coming from in the dark images? For example, if it coming from behind the subject, a common occurrence known as backlighting, put some light from the front toward the subject — you can do this with a flash unit, or by using various types of colored reflectors. Or, use long exposures with various grades and types of graduated neutral density filters to bring out the dark areas without blowing out the highlights. Or try bracketing exposures. There is a technique called ETTR, expose to the right, which will bring out shadow detail but risks blowing out the brighter sections. The situation you are describing has been one photographers have struggled against since cameras and photographers have been around.  
    • Hi, I'm looking for some Fujifilm HDR RAF image samples from the X-T4, X-Pro3 or X100V cameras. These cameras should store 3 RAW images inside the RAF image file in HDR mode. In need it, to verify my own software, but don't find any downloadable samples on web. Can someone help? Christoph
    • I would like to get your comments on the following problem of mine: Occasionally, I do get too dark JPG pictures with X-T50 - when the scene is contrasty; I think this is the very situation. This can happen when sun shines from a blue sky or the sky is cloudy but still very bright. I find these outcomes strange, as in many other (more or less similar) situations I find that the exposure is balanced. Is there any remedy for this, as I cannot completely figure out as to why this happens. Photometry is at the most common center-weight setting. What factors/settings can affect the picture's exposure in X-T50 (in the situation I describe)? For JPGs I've set the dynamic range on (DR400 with ISO500). Can that do it?? I thought it balances contrasts... Well, I can adjust the exposure on a computer but that is extra work for holiday pictures.
    • Like Jerryy says you can scale you image down so that it can be uploaded - that way we aren't guessing. The only symbol that looks like a camera is the Continuous Mode symbol - but it normally has "L" or "H" next to it rather than a "1"
