Hello,

I just bought an xt20 with a 15-45mm lens, but I just switched from Canon 5d markii with a 24-105 f4 lens. I just sold my old gear and have some cash lying around so I can upgrade for a more premium prime lens. Which focal length should I get? Currently, I am considering prime lens with a focal length of 23-50mm. Should I sell my 15-45mm, and buy prime lenses for all the range I like? Or should I keep my 15-45mm and buy 1 prime lens (50mm maybe) since 15-45mm at 45mm is quite lacking? Just want to make the most out of my money😆

Keep the zoom, it's a useful range of focal lengths. If you feel like a 50mm would be a good next lens, get it.

The XF 50mm f2 seems well regarded and isn't too expensive. The old XF 60mm f2.8 macro lens is good too if you want something a little longer (90mm equivalent), it isn't the fastest focusing though.

You don't say what type of photography that you're pursuing, that makes a difference in recommendation. Another question is, what full frame equivalent are you interested in having? the XF 50 F2 is ~75mm FFE or a short telephoto and useable as a portrait lens.

I included it in the title. But I have decided to sell my 15-45mm and buy 35mm f2 for street, and maybe landscape? If I find its focal length too long for landscape, I'll get a 16mm or 23mm. Is this a good idea? Portability is also quite important for me so not planning to get bulky lenses.
