Street Photography With the Fujifilm GFX 50s

Hello,

New to the forum, just joined.

I’ve been shooting people on the street for about a year now and using the GFX50S with the 110 mm f2 most of the time. I also have the 32-64mm but I don’t use it quite as much. I find it to be about the same weight as my aD800, grip and 24-70mm.

Well, I am assuming then that you are speaking from experience either as an owner or at the very, very least, someone who has used a GFX50S with a GF lens on the street. If So, and it is too heavy for you, then fine, your opinion....if not, then don’t make un-substantiated, generalized statements!

It is my opinion . In the past I used nikon d3 and i found it too heavy. I am 67 years hold , and three year ago I decided for fuji xt1 for street photos. I think in the studio hassy, linhof or gfx 50, can be ok, but  for street photo they ask to be young and dynamic

Well,

I, too, am 67...born 1951. I respect your opinion that for You, it would be too heavy....the most I can do walking is about 2-3 hours at a time but not because of the camera but because my feet get tired. I don’t find it heavy at all.

I still invite you to see some of my street portraits with the GFX and 110mm lens...that and 2 Spare batteries is all I carry.

By the way...I am old and fragile and NOT young and dynamic....

Great images! I use the 63mm, 45mm for street, 110mm for distance (i.e. from a boat) - I do find those lenses or the 32-64 zoom plus 110mm are heavy to carry for a day. The 63/45 combo and camera are fine for a whole day. It is the image quality I care about and all of those lenses help me to produce images I love.

Weegee shot street with a 4x5 Graflex.  The GFX is a midget by comparison.

True, but the Graflex 4x5 weighs less than the GFX 50s and lens.

I have one.  The lens is quite simple and incredibly light weight, even including the lens board it is mounted on.

I have the 50r and do not consider it an unreasonable street camera, although I understand that some would prefer a smaller camera.

This instagram account has almost exclusively pictures of people I didn't know (at least before I asked to take their picture) using the GFX 50r.  So far they are with the 63mm and 32-64mm (There are a couple images taken with an adapted lens, but they say as much in the description).
