Some Problems with X-T5

Hello, I am a fujifilm fan since finepix j37 which is my first camera. The x-t5 was my dream. I have it now, but I cant pass some problems.
V. 4.0
Kit: Tamron 18-300

1- Autofocus Problems

I love taking nature photos. I see a rare bird in the sky, and I press the shutter. But by the time I detect that bird, it has already moved away.

Or portrait shots, most of the time when I zoom in and look, I see that a large part of the face is out of focus. These problems have not been fixed with updates. What should I do?

2- Sharpness, the Biggest Problem
No matter what I do, I cannot get the sharpness I want. There is always a soft transition at the edges of the texture in the photos. I have never had this problem with my previous cameras. In fact, I get sharper photos even with a mobile phone.

I also experienced this sharpness problem with the 18-55 lens, and unlike the Tamron, it had much more sharpness problems.

No matter what I do about this, I cant have good sharpness.

This situation can be clearly seen in the DPPreview samples.

Another problem is unnatural image formations, there are unnatural formations in many of my photographs.

3) Automatic Connection Problem After Recent Updates
After the latest update, I have to manually connect to my paired phone every time. My phone is the S23 Ultra. However, this did not happen before. How can I solve it?

4) Failure to Take Consecutive Shots When Clarity Value is High
A loading message appears on the screen and we cannot take any shots because the viewfinder is black.

5) Overheating Problem and No Fan for XT-5
There is a fan for the GFX series, but why is there no fan for the XT-5?

6) Body wear problems.

7) Can't Properly Use PixelShift
Fuji Pixelshift Combiner app always gives a warning about defects. I had never achieved any clear shot. IBIS is vibrating the camera even with a good stabilization. The vibration causing defects.

8) Is It Possible to Combine All Subject Recognitions in One Option?
Everytime shooting subject is changing. Are there any plans to merge them? For example, if I activate it, will it detect different objects?

9) Insect Recognition?
Is it planned?

Thanks a lot for your patience. I hope someone read this.

Good grief! Is this a joke? I really cannot imagine what is wrong. I have had an X-T5 for over a year. I don't have any focus issues and I have made many exhibition prints up to A2 size. I can say this. No, it will not recognise different objects automatically. You have to set the required object. However, you shouldn't really need that function for general shooting anyway. Assign a button to face detect and set the eye detect to auto. I rarely have an out of focus portrait.  Bear in mind that if you are using your zoom at the long end, the depth of field wil, be narrow.

What do you want pixel shift for? Unless you want to make billboard size enlargements you don't need it. Also, it only works with the camera locked down on a tripod and a subject that is absolutely still.

What body wear problems? I have not experienced any.

The X-T5 is not a video centric camera. I have not heard of any overheating problems though.

When I first bought my X-T5, i loved it (upgraded to firmware 2.10), and everything worked as advertised. Autofocus on Fuji's not as good as my Nikon or Sony cameras, but it worked for me. I could take pictures of dogs in my backyard, grandkids, etc., now it does not work since upgrading to firmware 4.0. May Fuji sits a corner now, unless I want to use some manual lenses, manual focus works fine.  Focus box lies even in single focus mode, let alone continuous focus mode or subject detection. A lot of the softness is from the focus box being wrong. I've been a Fuji shooter since my X-T20, but I'm really considering going back to Nikon or maybe even Sony. I don't know if the issues affect every X-T5 or just selective cameras, but it's obvious Fuji cannot fix these issues. Fuji's are not as clinically sharp as the newer Nikon's Canon, Sony, etc, so you hear the terms vintage or maybe retro to describe the softness in Fuji's photo's. Fuji just seems interested in selling new cameras (with the sam issues) to new users, not taking care of their base.

LOL.....insect recognition?!

Changing the Clarity value other than 0 will cause a second delay after taking the picture as the computational stuff goes on in the background. This is not a fault of the camera. This is why you have to wait a second before taking the next.

I have never heard of anyone complaining about the X-T5 getting hot. It has an auto-shut-off feature which should prevent it from overheating. There is absolutely no need for a fan, it's not that power-hungry.

The AF issues are only present within very specific AF-C parameters (subject tracking with Eye-AF)

"Combine all subject recognition in one option"? WOW! lol, do you know how difficult it would be to come up with an AI algorithm that could do that!? It would be nigh impossible. Sure, there are better ways to implement it, for example, AI could recognise an animal/car/boat or plane and then switch to that subject tracking mode automatically. I wonder if that is actually possible.

It seems from your comments that you are not well-versed in using the camera efficiently. I would suggest reading the manual or gaining knowledge from the many YouTube tutorials. Pal2Tech is a great source of information. He explains things very simply and concisely. check his channel out.

  • 2 weeks later...

I can say that with V4.0 firmware in my X-T5 I continue to randomly get photos where nothing is in focus, despite the green focus confirmation appearing. This occurs with single point and single AF selected. It happens with well regarded lenses such as the XF 18mm F1.4 and the Viltrox AF 13mm F1.4.
