X100VI question

Hello.  I’m setting up my X100VI.  When viewing a scene in manual mode on the rear LCD, the scene does not darken or lighten (reflecting the changing exposure) when I turn the shutter speed dial, the aperture ring or the ISO.  The readings of SS, aperture, etc. register changes, but the brightness of the scene remain the same.  I’m sure I’ve inadvertently changed some setting, but can’t figure out which one.  Any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated.

That’s it!!  This is my third camera in the X100 series, you’d think I would know better by now. Thanks very much.
