Hello,

I'd love your opinion on the different AWB settings on the GFX 100s.

I'm a landscape photographer, and I often shoot in low-light/challenging conditions for the exposimeter (either with dense ND filters on or when light is really low).

I'm normally using "Pro Negative Standard" as a film simulation (to have a neutral result to evaluate on the screen), but I notice that when I underexpose the image (maybe not clipping the highlight of sunrise/sunset), the image shifts extremely to purple. If i use as film simulation "Provia/Standard" things are even worse.

I work with the WB in "Auto". Do you think this may affect the purple result?

Have you tested the "White Priority" and "Ambience Priority" option of AWB in landscape photography?

Any opinion is more than appreciated

(PS: yes I know I can set WB in post, but I want to get a more accurate and neutral visual result in camera while shooting)

I don’t have that camera, but when there are various colours of light in the scene (like a sunset or various indoor lights) the Auto WB can be thrown off, that is normal I think. In these cases I use a fixed WB like “daylight” or “cloudy” or a Kelvin value. Also, look at Natural Live View. You can map that to a button and switch easily between that and your film simulation. At least on the X-T5 you can and I presume on your camera too.

No worries, a pleasure. The histogram changes depending on the Film Simulation you choose. I think the Natural Live View is meant to give a neutral view when shooting with the intent to use RAW (to get the most data into the file for subsequent processing, where you choose the Film Simulation and other parameters after the shot had been taken). To answer your other question, I didn’t try White Priority or Ambience Priority in landscapes, could be interesting.
