X-T2 "Turn camera off and on again"

I know there are other threads about this error message that comes up periodically on other Fuji X cameras. I am experiencing it once again on my new X-T2.

It happened on my X-T1.  When I turned the camera to vertical orientation, I got an error message to turn off and turn on the camera. That's exactly what is happening with my X-T2.

I saw all the traffic about this with other X series camera with various explanations.  It only happens on both my X-T1 and X-T2 when the camera goes vertical with the right side (SD card hatch) up. It's a minor annoyance because I rarely shoot anything that won't be in the same place 3 seconds later.

Anyone else having this issue?

Stan

It doesn’t happen much with my X-T1, in fact it happened only once when I mounted a filter adapter without a spacer on the 60mm macro and focussed at infinity, the lens couldn’t retract enough and therefore an error.  Another time I got that message with the X-E2 , no idea why, never happened again.

Is it only one lens? In that case, I guess you'll have to send the lens in for a checkup. I had this on the X-E2 and a brand new 16-55, just at random times (really annoying on vacation) . Turned out to be a lens problem.

If you have this with multiple lenses, it might be a mount problem.. and not to scare you, but if both camera's do have the exact same problem, then that mount problem could be the result of a mechanical problem with one of the lenses that broke something? Did you use a (questionable) lens adapter at some point?

I have many adapters and lenses with not original FX mount, this only ever happen with an official Fuji lens (again the 60mm I have exactly diagnosed why that was)

Sure it will not happen with an adapter mounted.. they don't have any electrical contacts. What I mean is that a shitty adapter might damage the mount or contacts, leading to problems when you mount your Fuji lenses. This obviously is pure speculation... It might be something completely different.

This happens maybe once or twice  during any particular shooting session. I am using the same 18-55 kit lens on my X-T2 that came with my X-T1. (I only bought the X-T2 body).  I've never used any other Fuji lens and don't know if it's a camera or a lens problem therefore.

Funny thing, as I mentioned above, is that it never happens if I use the camera in a vertical position with the card hatch facing down.

I have a X-T2 and experienced this couple of times, both times with the 16-55 attached and both times during a shoot where the camera was in constant use for several hours. Fingers crossed it has not happened for several months  :)
