Fujifilm X-E2S LCD

Hi,

I have been a Canon/Nikon user and I recently bought a Fujifilm X-E2s as I really like the form factor and has read so many good things about Fujifilm. However, I am already experiencing problem with the LCD screen.

The LCD randomly kept coming on and off by itself and I noticed that a slight pressure on the back of the camera near the LCD can sets it off or on. This is really puzzling.

Anyone has similar issue?

Any solution or advice would be greatly welcome.

Thank you.

That's a typical symptom of intermittent contact(s), place - connector on main board where the ribbon cable from LCD is attached.

To understand how it works, take a look on photos at Step 15 from this link:

The link is related to another model, X-M1, so parts are looks different but the principle is the same and clearly shown. The locking part of connector (narrow brown strip), on your camera, probably wasn't settled firmly at assembling stage, and then been self-loosed, or some else reason (tolerances issue for example).

What can you do with all it.

Best way is to go to an authorized service, even if warranty time expired. Should be low cost work.

Or fix it with own hand. Fixing (locking of connector) is very simple for any average technician, but opening of camera may be too complex task. Some screws are hidden under glued skin (and exact position is unknown of course). Can be some clip locks on plastic parts. Basically, for access to that connector you need to open the back panel only.

Here the link of X-E1 disassembly, may be helpful too:

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions.

I just got mine X-E2s about two weeks ago and only used it like 3 times.

I do suspect that there is some issue with the circuitry but was also concern about the strength of the casing.

I will be bringing back to the shop and see what they say.

Thank you.

Update:

Brought to the camera shop and they put a 23mm lens on it and nothing happened. Came back and play with the 18-55mm on at home and nothing happened. Brought it out today and the problem came back. It seems like there is a correlation between the problem and the camera temperature. The problem came back when the camera is warm.

I wonder why.

I will be bringing it back to the shop again.

Blue Jays are tricky to get good photos like you have, they tend to fly away as soon as the lens cap comes off 😀.
    • I own the Fuji X-T1 and X-H1. I own several Fuji lenses but I tend to use 3rd party vintage manual glass which I find quite enjoyable to use. I'm testing a photo here taken from my Flickr account that showcases the Tokina 100-300mm Zoom lens with 1.4 extender. • Forgot to mention another thing. Mine does not work if I plug the USB cord into a USB hub. It only works if I plug the cord into one of the USB ports on my computer itself (an iMac). This surprises me because I think there's a hub built into the computer itself, which is how the computer has multiple USB ports in the first place. I think it was somebody here that suggested I try that -- sorry I don't remember who!
    • On another forum someone suggested spraying some electrical contact cleaner into the wheel but the Fuji tech said that could risk frying the rest of the cameras electrical so I haven't tried that.
    • I have an x100VI with 1.01 firmware - did a reset already and didnt solve issue I am about to describe. Can you all see if your camera does this: Switch to C mode, step down to f16 and then press shutter half way. Does your screen go dark? I have tried playing will all settings (have had the following so quite familiar with the menus: x100, x100f, XT-2, X-Pro 2, XT-3) , only happens in C mode. If you find this can you report to Fuji @ digitalinfo@fujifilm.com. They told me they had not seen this before and that it was normal behavior because the shutter is closing, but the shutter closes in S mode as well.
