oh wow, that is very odd.  Can you not simply put any version you want onto a formated SD card,

and install it like every other priece of hardware on the planet?

@botty have you tried a different lens, or updating the firmware on your lens (if thats the only one you have one)?

I had the same issue with my XH2, after installing firmware V4.0. I tried different SD card, OEM battery and use Fuji lens. Nothing worked. So, I submitted a repair request on Fuji site and I sent the camera back to Fuji, they reverted my camera back to firmware 3.1 on my camera. It has been working fine without locking during my last few photo shoots. I learned the hard way to update firmware too soon, because I wanted better auto focus. If my camera is stable and I am generally happy with it, then I will wait for quite a while and check the web for stability issue, before upgrading firmware next time. You can help the next Fuji firmware release if you save the lock up setting in one of custom mode dial such as C7, before you send your camera for repair. Try call Fuji support, to see if they can make a special arrangement to revert back to firmware 3.1 without you sending your camera in.

just out of curiosity, has anyone tried installing older firmware themselves?

I understand the fuji website doesn't have a firmware archive pre se, but what if we have old versions on our drives?

Does the camera simply refuse to go backwards?

I've never seen a piece of hardware behave that way in my 30 years of experience.

I've tried - don't remember the exact message but it refused to update (also doesn't prove its true for all cameras but its a reasonable assumption)

Has anyone here had a problem with the latest firmware of XH2S  Ver.6.00? Because I keep having a false focus or not in focus when taking photos, especially during any fast movement during events? It seems that the new version is struggling to get the focus right

    • Hi I can not select anything else from drop down menu ( where you would select video) apart from still image. Has anybody has that problem ?
    • I am about to PX my X-T4 for an X-H2. I have the original 16-55, plus 18,23 and 35 primes. i read there is an issue using the original 16-55 on the X-H2 with the.40mp sensor. is that something I need to be particularly concerned about. I am just an amateur photographer using Fujifilm’s for landscape and holidays. any advice appreciated. many thanks Graham
    • I use the Thinktank Retrospective bags with a similar lens complement and it too is mostly unpadded (padding in the dividers). I find it works well, and is of a similar design to the Domke.
    • Perhaps look for a secondhand XF 23mm F2 and a secondhand XF 56mm f1.2, use those for six months or so and see where you feel you are missing something. The 23mm (35mm equivalent) is a popular general purpose lens and can be used successfully for most general photography. The 56mm (85mm equivalent) is a popular short telephoto and portrait lens, giving shallow depth of field when used at wider apertures.
    • A few quick thoughts: Overall, zooms tend to be heavier and bulkier and slower and costlier with poorer image quality than primes. You compromise on pretty much everything, just to get that adjustable focal length. But an adjustable focal length is a pretty huge and amazing feature for a lens. You might put some thought into your own thoughts on zoom versus prime. Many of us wind up with a few of each. I also agree the 18-135 is very good, does almost everything you need a lens to do. If I can only bring one, this is the one. I also agree the 80 Macro is good. The images are excellent for close up or distant shooting, and it offers about as much magnification as you can use handheld. If I can only bring two, this is the second one. There's a 30 Macro instead, which is a great deal smaller and lighter and easier to handle, if you prefer. You can crop an image after shooting to approximate a longer narrower lens. But there's no way in the world to approximate a shorter wider lens. What didn't fit in the image will never get there after shooting. So, I think it is good to have a very wide lens in your kit. I have the 8 mm, which is VERY very wide. Kinda expensive though. But, still, picking something pretty dang wide as your widest lens is a good strategy. You can leave a big gap between your widest and second widest, and crop as needed, but you will be able to capture the subject.
