Not getting what I see on my screen.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am facing a problem with my X-T2.

When shooting at night and when the shutter is half pressed I see the image on the screen and I expect the image I’ll get to be the same but when I go back and look at my shot I see the image is under exposed. I don’t know by how many stops but it’s definitely a lot darker than what I saw when I was taking the shot.

I don’t understand it and it’s extremely frustrating.

Any tip will be much appreciated.

Thanks

The screen has its own brightness and preview settings which you can change in the setup menu. By default the screen settings make sure that you see something on the screen in all environments including dark rooms. To make sure you‘re getting the correct exposure independently from the screen preview watch the exposure meter on the screen.

Go to the menu, then the wrench/spanner, screen set-up, and Preview Exp/Wb in Manual Mode, so turn that on. You can adjust the aperture, shutter speed, and iso from there, then what you see is what you get. Or you can turn it off, and if you are in low light or in the dark, everything you see will be brighter on screen. Or something along those lines. Its hard to explain.
