Fuji XT5 quick test

Recommended Posts

Hi

I tried the Fuji XT5 in the store in London at the weekend.

I was pushed for time so tried a couple of test shots, I plugged my own SD card in to check later.

I had the 18mm f1.4 lens on and took some test shots at 500s, ISO 200, f1.4

They seem a little noisy to me though ? I'm wondering if it might have been another setting on the XT5 I got wrong ?

Maybe I'm being fussy, I focussed on the bottom right hand side of the monitor on the far wall.

I didn't make any changes to this image I just exported it from C1.

The 2nd image (darker one) is for comparison and is from my leica Q, 28mm f1.7 500s ISO 200

Any ideas ?

First thing that comes to mind with limited knowledge of the settings is my hunch blames the glass not the body. Can you share more info? AF vs MF, what else could you tell was turned on or off? Not much to go by here. The X-T5 is a top tier camera body and you might think a shop would have a perfectly working model for use for sales purposes.

Hi, that's part of the issue, I didn't have much time to spend in the shop as we were headed to a show. Auto focus for a couple of quick snaps. The images here are exported from C1 in Instagram format, 300 x 1080.

The original jpg files are all 7728 x 5152 which suggest they are Large3:2

The lens is the new 18mm f1.4 which gets great reviews. Weird really.

Body has v2.0 firmware according to C1.

I'd love to see similar captures with the same combo. I'm convinced it must be something I've missed. I should have set the camera to capture jpg and raw.

should have set the camera to capture jpg and raw.

If you didn't shoot in RAW and only have JPEGs to look at, it's quite possible the grain setting was on. This might be reflected in the EXIF data of the JPEG. Not sure if C1 would show it but if you load it up in Fuji X RAW Studio, you should be able to see it under GRAIN EFFECT.

Well I bought one at the weekend, along with the 16-80 f4 lens. Haven't had a chance to really try it out but I'm off to Berlin tomorrow. I'm taking the older 16-55 f2.8-4.0 lens as it's smaller and a bit lighter. I plan to buy the 18mm 1.4 at some point. 😀

I think you are correct. 5 mins in the shop isn't enough time to get used to the new camera. I got this shot the other day in Berlin. This is SOOC 📷
