I have seen lots of answers on the internet regarding this issue, so I am expecting that mine may need to go in for repair. I was getting this issue with my 16-80 Fuji lens, and have since replaced it with a Tamron 18-300. Still the same issue, and sometimes it's almost every shot that I get the issue. I have also cleaned the connectors on the camera, but to be honest, when I replaced the lens it was the first time my body and lens have ever been separated so I don't suppose the connectors have become dirty. If it does need to go for repair it will be very frustrating as I had Canon's for years without a single issue, I swapped to Fujifilm around 2 years ago and the camera has already been in for repair 3 times, all battery life issues which is now resolved.

I had the same problem "turn off and turn on again the camera". I noticed that one of the bayonet screws was slightly unscrewed on my XT4. After tightening it, no more problem. I hope it will be ok now.
