X100V - why does the OVF shutter engage for playback mode?

Recommended Posts

New X100V owner and I noticed a weird behavior during playback.  I have my X100V setup currently like this:

MENU > SET UP > SCREEN SET-UP > VIEW MODE SETTING: SHOOTING: EYE SENSOR + LCD

PLAYBACK: LCD

This works pretty much exactly as how I want it as I primarily want to use the OVF for shooting but I don't want to see the review image in the EVF.  I only want to see the review image on the LCD.  However, here's where its weird.  When press the 'PLAY' button to review images, the OVF shutter goes up as if the EVF is being turned on but nothing is displayed in the EVF and the playback is only on the LCD.  Why is the camera closing the OVF shutter when I activate playback mode?  How can I get the camera to not constantly open and close the OVF shutter when I go into playback mode on the LCD?  Since I don't really ever use the EVF I would prefer if the OVF shutter stayed open all the time and the EVF is activated only manually never automatically.
