Problem with "New to Me" XF 80mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro

I just received my "new to me" XF 80mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro that I bought off eBay for around $800US. The seller was pretty reputable and the communication during the sale (and post-sale) has been excellent.

I just unboxed the item, which arrived undamaged and well-packed. The lens came in it's original box, which was also like new, and with all the appropriate materials (lens caps, pouch, etc) - and even included an UV filter.

So, I inspect the lens before I attached it to my XT-3. Right away I noticed that something seems 'loose'. When I move the lens back and forth laterally, whatever seems loose moves with the motion. It is NOT a slight movement, in fact it's rather 'clunky'. So, I attached the lens to the XT-3, and noticed that when I switch the camera on, the movement stabilizes - no more internal movements. The lens is quiet! I took a few shots with it, the lens works perfectly fine.

But when I turn the camera back off, the motion/movement returns. Is this normal, or should I be considering a return???

Any help appreciated!

This is a known fact about the XF 80mm.  You will notice that as soon as you power on the camera, the clinking stops.

Yes, same here, mine does this and it works fine. I think there is a lot moving around in there to autofocus a big lens over such a big range.

This is the equivalent of 43 minutes, 40 seconds of exposure. NGC 1502 is a neat little cluster located in the Camelopardalis Constellation. This region of space was thought to be fairly empty by early astronomers, but as you can see, there is a lot there. Kemble's Cascade (a.k.a. Kemble 1) is named for Father Lucian Kemble, a Canadian Franciscan friar who wrote about it to Walter Scott Houston, an author for the Sky And Telescope magazine. Houston named the asterism for Fr. Kemble and the name "stuck". NGC 1501 is the Oyster Nebula. A longer focal length telescope is needed to bring this one into good viewing, but it is well worth the effort. • Looking for input; there are some decent deals and might want to take advantage to expand my lenses for my 100s already own: 110/2 32-64 35-70 100-200 + TC   Shooting mostly family shots, bringing my kit to capture family outings indoors and out. Tracking the 63/43 effective FLs on the two, but has anybody used both? Would the 55 (covered by two zooms right now) be redundant? Would the 80 be too similar in character to my 110 for portraiture?

    • What's the deal Fuji X Forum? I'm noticing there are seldom replies to any topics - except for advertisements posted as replies. Really lame. Anyone else noticing the only reply they receive to a question is an advert?  🤠 fotomatt in Colorado
