Focusing problems with Fujifilm X-T3

Recommended Posts

I am a long time Canon user (current main camera is Eos 5D mk3) and after hearing/reading rave reviews of Fujifilm X-T3 bought this camera along with the 16-80mm zoom lens. I am having awful problems with the auto focus both for candid portrait type of picture and also recently tried taking action photos at our granddaughters local park run.  I have tried all sorts of settings and the hit rate for properly sharp photos is really low. So disappointed with this camera at the moment and even considering selling it. I was relying on face detection for the portraits and results are mostly rubbish. What can I be doing wrong?

That is a lot, all at once.

Normally, it would seem the first thing to do is check to see if there is a problem with the lens or the body. How do you have the camera menus set up?

Have you installed the latest firmware for the body and for the lens?

Since you have dived into one particular use, maybe this will help:
