Hi,

I recently acquired the new X-Pro 2, after more than 15 years working with Canon.

My experience so far has been great in every level, but there's one issue that I think about every time I change lenses: if the camera has a mechanical shutter, why doesn't it close when you take the lenses off? It seems more than logical to me not to have the sensor there, just waiting to be touched...

Is there a way to make this happen in the camera menu or by any other process?

Thanks in advance.

Looking forward to be a part of this community.

yes, but I suppose that next to the common sense ones which tell us that a very flimsy shutter would easily be damaged,  there are also technical reasons , which make all brands, to date, have chosen not to do that.

One is probably that this would only work with the camera switched on while doing this since the shutter is probably acting on the influence of magnets.

This question of yours has been asked around the internet ever since there are mirrorless cameras

I understand that Aswald, but the closed curtains would prevent dust from enter the camera, correct?

Theoretically yes.....but dust will land on the curtain instead and when the curtain is deployed after you've fixed the lens, dust on the curtain will then be distributed all over the insides of the curtain pockets and sensor, among other places.

At least, they way it is now, you only need to worry and clean the sensor.
