Fuji 100-400 on XT10

I'm the lucky owner of an XT10 and a 100-400 4.5-5.6. When budgeting I decided that my money at this present time was better spent on glass than body so I went for the cheapest body available at the Photography Show and the most expensive lens (oh dear). Must admit The lens is superb and the camera is too even if not a perfect match for the lens.

My question is this - Would you trust the tiny XT10 to hold the weight of the large lens hanging from it's bayonet and the skinny camera strap in tiny eyelets? I must admit it feels a bit scary to have that large heavy lens hanging from the tiny xt10 and just the supplied strap in the camera eyelets. Anyone have any technical reassurance ... Or otherwise?

With such a heavy lens you shouldn't put too much strains the camera body.

I would highly advise you some better camera straps than those coming with the body and when manipulating the camera always hold it by the lens first then the body. When shooting, ideally, your left hand should not let go of the lens at any point.

The 100-400 with the 1.4 teleconverter was finally delivered today.  f/8 the largest aperture with both, the sweet spot.  Took a few photos just as sun was setting.  Bumped up the X-T1 to ISO 800 with OIS on, 1/250 speed, it was excellent!  This is going to be my new wildlife gear. Big and heavy in Fuji terms and difficult to keep still while hand holding, but with sufficient shutter speed that OIS is sweet and the reach is awesome for wildlife!  Will post some pics once I get a chance to exercise the lens and learn its character.

Agree with darknj, must hold the lens at all times and some better camera straps are on my list as well.  The X-T1 almost seems tiny when attached to this lens.  Overall however it feels just as heavy as my Nikon D600 with the 80-400 that I used for wildlife in the past.
