Fuji X-T1 EVF Problem: Warranty Repair

ReciprocityImages

Recommended Posts

I am having an issue with my XT1 electronic viewfinder flickering and sometimes going out completely. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

I ask because I have actually already had the same problem once before: It was repaired under warranty by FujiFilm in December of last year. I was told it was simply a 'loose wire' (Flex cable?) that was not properly soldered.

Now they are telling me that they will no longer repair under warranty because it is now past the initial 12-month warranty period (since July). However, It seems to me that this is obviously a defect- one that should have been repaired already once, and the same exact problem is now occurring again.

Is there not some kind of a guarantee on repair work?

...well, at the very least a “ Mede-lander”  ;).

In the Netherlands and in Europe guarantees are 24 months minimum

“.Traders selling consumer goods in the European Union (EU) are obliged to remedy defects which existed at the time of delivery and which become apparent within 2 years. EU rules guarantee consumers a minimum level of protection, especially if the goods do not meet the standards promised..."

http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=URISERV:l32022

So, if you bought this anywhere in the EU you should have 24 months guarantee. If you on the other hand have bought this OUTSIDE the EU you have then right to the 12 months international guarantee.

However this is possibly a factory defect because it recurs and therefore you could argue that ( in the Netherlands this is i VERY strong argument) this is not within the normal defects that one can expect from a camera.

https://www.consuwijzer.nl/vervoer/garantie-op-vervoermiddel/europese-garantie-en-nederlands-recht-op-deugdelijk-product

“...Er is geen wettelijke garantietermijn in Nederland. Dit is omdat het ene product langer mee gaat dan het andere.

Is het probleem met het product uw schuld? Dan heeft u geen recht op gratis reparatie, een nieuw product of teruggave van uw geld. Heeft u het product normaal gebruikt maar is het gewoon versleten? Ook dan heeft u geen recht op gratis reparatie...."

In short a product guarantee is NOT limited to the compulsory minimum 2 years and it has to do with what is reasonably to expect from a certain product and that is, MORE than 2 years!

Ben je Nederlander?

Not Nederlander, mede-lander as milandro says.  :)

@milandro, thank you for the information that is all very helpful. I am still waiting on a follow-up reply from Fuji but that should help my case I hope. I knew that in Germany there was a 24 month warranty period, but for every other EU country on the Fuji warranty site only 12 month. Why does Fuji list only 12 months? Does anyone have experience in EU having repairs done under warranty between 12-24 months after purchase?

Additional info: Yes, camera was purchased in from Amazon UK (I assume that still counts for EU?), shipped to Germany (where I am a resident), and I am currently in Maastricht and need it fixed fast! I am a working photographer and can not be without the camera. The service rep quoted at least 10-14 days turnaround time on the repair.  Will likely end up having to buy/rent another body because I have upcoming work that can not wait two weeks or more!

Thanks for the help.

I would advise you to send the camera to Germany since apparently our shops send the Fuji cameras in Germany too, it might take less.

In all the EU guarantee is 24 months (MINIMUM) , the UK think they can make an exception to this rule but really they shouldn’t.

Read here

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/article-1677034/Two-year-warranty-EU-law.html

In the NL ( where theoretically the terms allow for a much longer term) this is a different matter ( a more complicated matter, if you want to make a claim any further than the 24 months EU minimum )

The fact that you bought it from Amazon UK says nothing about where the guarantee applies or was issued, it should say on the guarantee itself and on the receipt.

Get in touch directly with Fuji Japan and ask them to intervene. They are normally very helpful.

I’ve already suggested elsewhere on this forum that I might be given a job from Fuji  ;)

You not can Press before "redgreen light recording Is on".   With preshot you can have 25  are more 7 pictures . The story change Only in jpg shot only. • I do not use Flickr, so I do not know what their BB code is. All I did was copy the second link you provided, (starting at https: and ending at  _k.jpg — leave off the [img] and [/img] tags) and pasted it into the message. After a moment, a message popped up asking if I wanted to paste it as the image or as a plain link. I did this twice, the first time I had it paste in as the image and the second time as a link. Nothing fancy or tricky.
    • So do I just copy the BB code from flickr and paste it anywhere on the page like other forums or is there some other trick I need to perform to get it to post?
