I had a thought, and wondered if anyone would be interested in starting a thread on street technique and how they go about getting their shots? It might be interesting to share some knowledge, because I know there are lots of different approaches to street photography....compare Bruce Gilden for example with Matt Stuart.

Absolutely, I love the OVF. This shot didn't need much anticipation, but usually I'll watch a scene with my left eye and when it goes into the OVF I'll watch with my right eye as the subject crosses into the brightlines. I went from an x100s->X-T1->X-Pro2 and found I was really missing the OVF on the X-T1.

As someone as myself who enjoys street photography I'm starting to get more and more interested in the Xpro2 instead of waiting for the XT2 with its huge EVF (already existing in the X-T1).

 

Kinda difficult to decide right now. If I get the Xpro2 I just hope I will master and enjoy the OVF and feel it's worth the trade off of bigger EVF and flip out screen.

 

I wonder if the XPRo series are less attention drawing than the XT series with their SLR form which on the other hand are slightly smaller.

Honestly I can't tell the difference between the reactions I get when shooting an XP2 vs. XT1. However, I do know that the OVF makes me feel more connected to the scene so I tend to be braver. Also, don't discount the XT1/2's flip-out screen. It helps you to be more discreet on the street. However, I prefer a more direct shooting style and tend to want people to know that I'm photographing them. I guess it makes me feel like I'm being less creepy :) Also the OVF takes some getting use to since it's less precise than the EVF. You have to be willing to let go of some control to like the OVF, but that's something I find quite freeing. E.g., with the EVF I find myself being concerned that I nailed the exposure, whereas since the OVF makes that a bit harder I tend to not worry so much. In those cases where I feel I really need to nail exposure or framing, the EVF is just a toggle away.

In my opinion the most important aspect to mastering the OVF of the Pro Series cameras are mastering the Histogram.  Parallax is only an issue for something inside, say 1.5 meters or so.  If you're that close fill the frame with your subject to focus and reframe, or zone focus if you shoot this close and use an aperture that will give you the depth you want...

 

Just how I use the Pro1 though.  For all I know I could be doing it wrong...

 

Any camera brought to your eyes draws attention.  This is the advantage of the X100s/t, or the T-1, the articulating screen allows you to shoot without anyone really knowing you are.

First attempt with Xpro1.

 

I don't hear any difference between putting on silence mode...

 

It's a mechanical focal plane shutter so you can't get rid of the shutter sound.  But it shuts off all the beeps and AF Assist lamp etc...

      Hello. Thankyou,now Is all more clear: I have take some time in your link. Let tell you. I has totaly forget this machine have "compress picture option" and not Only "compress lossless" anyway not change the experiment. RAW  and this last two format look like same result about Number of recording picture. Can tell all results in this: in raw you can make 17 pictures for second. Is wrong. Is about One single Press and wait buffer. Full 30/20/10/8 not change. After 17 Need Press again. You not can Press before "redgreen light recording Is on".   With preshot you can have 25  are more 7 pictures . The story change Only in jpg shot only. In jpg at 30 you have 30 picture but redgreen light off very Fast so you can shot very quicly. At 20 shot Is about start look like infinite shot. 60. So the best performance are this last One  about Speed and recording picture after camera working witout big limit. I want take a shot about Italy cyclet Just for passion. I think i Will use this last setting.  After Need check when battery not are full change and ambient temp.  Anyway my cam look like exactly specific about you link. Im Happy my cam working perfectly.

All I did was copy the second link you provided, (starting at https: and ending at  _k.jpg — leave off the [img] and [/img] tags) and pasted it into the message. After a moment, a message popped up asking if I wanted to paste it as the image or as a plain link. I did this twice, the first time I had it paste in as the image and the second time as a link. Nothing fancy or tricky.

      All software is the latest between camera and app. All settings are correct on camera. I have both lossless and uncompressed RAW files on the card in the camera. I have been up and down every reddit thread to no avail and am losing my mind… I’m doing all of the right things. It even sees my camera. It just doesn’t create the “drive” for it (see attached image screenshot).  Please Help!
