X100V - "Interlock Spot AE & Focus Area" in Manual mode

Hi

Sorry if this has been discussed already, but I cannot find the answer:

When working  in MANUAL MODE, MANUAL FOCUS and SPOT METERING on my X100V, even if I set the Interlock Spot AE & Focus Area ON, it still meters on the right centre of the frame, regardless of where I move the focus area to

What am I doing wrong? It seemed to me that initially it worked, but it's not anymore

(I got the camera two weeks ago, and I am still learning)
