Save a photo from video

Recommended Posts

Can you tell us which operating system you are using? There are different options for Linux, MacOS and Windows. Usually your video editing software will have an option -- that may not be clearly labeled as to its purpose -- to allow you to export a frame. For example, scroll down to the iMovie section in this article: https://www.macworld.com/article/1154212/pullingstills.html

Thank you for your reply.

I use Windows 10, and I have an editor program called MovAvi in which I was able to save a "snapshot" in the size 1920 x 1080 px which is the same size I can extract if a pause the video in for example VLC player and take a screenshot.

Do you know if 1920 x 1080 px is the largest size I can extract from a 4K video or can I extract a larger size somehow?

You mention VLC, it has the ability to export frames built in to it, just search for VLC export frame and you can find plenty of tutorials for doing that. From the way you have written, it sounds like you are trying to view a 4k video on a 1080p monitor, which is why your screen grab may be coming out as 1080 x 1920.

This thread may help! it lists some other options: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4054568

Hey. You may use The Movavi screen recorder. You just press the "snapshot" button in the app, and it does it for you. Moreover, you can also edit and record videos in there. I find this app very comfy and cool. Here is the link where you can find the complete tutorial and the download link- https://www.movavi.com/support/how-to/mp4-recorder.html Worth to try. Good luck =]]

Blue Jays are tricky to get good photos like you have, they tend to fly away as soon as the lens cap comes off 😀.
    • I own the Fuji X-T1 and X-H1. I own several Fuji lenses but I tend to use 3rd party vintage manual glass which I find quite enjoyable to use. I'm testing a photo here taken from my Flickr account that showcases the Tokina 100-300mm Zoom lens with 1.4 extender. • Forgot to mention another thing. Mine does not work if I plug the USB cord into a USB hub. It only works if I plug the cord into one of the USB ports on my computer itself (an iMac). This surprises me because I think there's a hub built into the computer itself, which is how the computer has multiple USB ports in the first place. I think it was somebody here that suggested I try that -- sorry I don't remember who!
    • On another forum someone suggested spraying some electrical contact cleaner into the wheel but the Fuji tech said that could risk frying the rest of the cameras electrical so I haven't tried that.
    • I have an x100VI with 1.01 firmware - did a reset already and didnt solve issue I am about to describe. Can you all see if your camera does this: Switch to C mode, step down to f16 and then press shutter half way. Does your screen go dark? I have tried playing will all settings (have had the following so quite familiar with the menus: x100, x100f, XT-2, X-Pro 2, XT-3) , only happens in C mode. If you find this can you report to Fuji @ digitalinfo@fujifilm.com. They told me they had not seen this before and that it was normal behavior because the shutter is closing, but the shutter closes in S mode as well.
