X70 as XT3 companion?

Recommended Posts

I been toying with the idea of getting a compact camera, I was thinking the XF10 like the tilt-screen and aperture ring of the X70. Just wondering if the IQ would be similar if I use it along my XT3. I think it has all film simulations but Acros and Classic Neg, am I right? Thanks!

This is the set up that I’m currently running. My XT3 with battery grip / wide zoom / 16-50 and 50-140 is what I lug around for landscape. If I’m doing anything else, I’ve got a 35mm on it, but at the end of the day it’s still too large to consider a daily runner so I recently got the old X70, which has a great lens and more than acceptable IQ. I have or had both the Panasonic LX100 and Sony RX100 and they both have serious sensor and lens dust issues and are more frustrating to shoot with than my Fuji. The downside for most might be the 28mm equivalent focal length, the lens hunts a bit during autofocusing in some conditions and lack of EVF. If you shoot street and are / or inclined to learn zone focusing, it’s great.

The other reality is the X70 is stable in price. If you buy it and use it for a bit and don’t like it, it’s resale value will be nearly identical for a lot longer than a newish camera.

there is the new X-S10 Fuji camera coming out which logically sounds like something in the same category of what you and I are looking for, and shy of that, from Fuji, from a size to IQ perspective, X70 is quite good.

    • Thanks, Olaf. I hope to add to the information flow.
    • When using af, if you zoom in and use it, the camera suddenly stops working. This phrase pops up. 'Check the battery'. However, I have four batteries, but the same phenomenon occurs even if I try to use them while changing. I think it may be a problem with lens production, but have other people ever experienced this??? I live in Paraguay, so I don't have a Fujifilm AS center. I'm looking for a solution.
    • Hello folks, Did anyone else have a hard time registering their X-T4?  I am trying and it won’t accept my X-T4 model number. I can’t get past that part of the registration process. Your help is appreciated.
    • With stills, I had write errors when shooting panorama, CH, CL, long exposure etc and using a slower card. Had reported to Fuji here and as expected the issue was never heard of by them in spite of sending them links to the issues. But they were very helpful in loaning a camera, a faster card and they took my card to try on their camera. It was concluded by Fuji that the card was slow. And the truth is, I switched to a faster card and haven't seen the issue after that.  Also, I never delete
    • Well...this is embarrassing, but maybe helpful for anyone else out there who runs into this - if you change your connection settings to "USB Fixed" you will get the symptoms above. Switch it to "USB Auto" and you should be fine. Basically, while troubleshooting for Webcam usage I switched it and didn't think about the ramifications of leaving it that way. Whoops!
