X100V autofocus issues in video mode

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I know this is a photocentric camera, but I bought it hoping to take advantage of the video features (200 Mbps recording, 4K 24 and 1080 60) as there isn't really a compact camera with a fixed lens that comes close in APSC.  I'm having issues with "breathing" of the lens (shifting focus constantly) in video mode.  For example, a moving person or a moving blade of glass, or just a rockfield, for example, confuses the autofocus.  I'm used to Sony autofocus (RX100V, ZV-1, A6400) which is reliable and never has this issue.  Are there autofocus settings you recommend to get the best out of this camera in video mode? I'm about to return the camera, but I thought I'd play with these settings first before I return.  Thanks!
