Just ordered a GFX100: and First Post

Well, looks like my first post here is the first post on this forum!!

;)

I found a used GFX100 and thought it was a good deal...and I dropped the hammer on it.

Even used price eats up a LOT of funds....but I found that the 50mm GF 3.5 lens was half price about $499 or so at B&H, so I got that.

 

I also went ahead and got the Fotodiox new adapter and hoping I can use some of my Canon L glass with it adapted....and I purchased the new Metabones Speedbooster Cine adapter so that I can use my Hasselblad V System lenses...which I'm hoping will really be something fun to use and experiment with.

ON the Hassy lens, I have the 50mm, the 80mm and the 150mm....all in really near mint condition.  

I have a Hasselblad 501CM 6x6 film camera, and honestly, I was holding on to let them put out the new CFV 50 C II Digital back to use on my old 501 CM....but I started getting the GFX100 under my skin and watched WAY too many YouTube videos on it and when I found the used one, I couldn't resist.

Anyway, This will be my first Fuji digital camera.  I scored a good deal on an older MF Fuji GSW690 III MF 6x9 camera...it is fixed lens, but WOW..talk about great images!!

So, that's where I am...hoping it comes in by this weekend.  I'll start researching and maybe trying to rent a few of the nicer Fuji GF lenses, all of which seem awesome, but need to figure which one(s) to start saving my pennies for first.

Good to have you on the Forum and sounds like you will be having lots of fun with your GFX100 and all those lenses.

And congratulations on the Fuji 6X9 film camera.  I have the same model, love it and have taken a few hundred photos with it.  Now I'm enjoying using an infrared filter with JCH 400 Streetpan which has IR sensitivity.

Thank you for the welcome!!  Yes, what an exciting time we live in....I'm so excited to dabble in the world of BIG digital MF....and exploring the retro-world of MF film!!

I've not given up on regular Digital FF, but it is on the back burner right now with all these new (to me) larger format tools!!

 

Your IR filtered stuff sounds interesting!!!  I looked up that film....what filter are you using?

 

Is there a place on the forum you could post a couple of example images?

I'm using a name-brand 720nm filter but it would take a few minutes to dig it up and the brand doesn't really matter.

I'm limited in the MB I can add directly and Flickr is down right now so I can't use links.  Maybe later.

      I was laying in bed and heard a hooting outside my window and was able to get a shot of this guy.  The conditions were terrible, 1am, overcast and starting to rain so it was extremally dark.  400mm, ISO 12800, f5.6 SS 1.5s and heavily processed.  All I could make out was a dark shadow in the branches once my eyes adjusted.  The wind was also picking up so I couldn't lower the shutter speed anymore to drop the ISO.   I had to use manual focus and kept firing off shots slowing adjusting the focus each time time until it seemed in focus.  The photo is is obviously horrible but it's fun finally having some reach and very cool this owl showed up just after getting the lens.  I think I'm going to have to build some owl boxes and put them up around the property. I also need to learn to navigate through the settings in the dark.

      Have you done all of these: - Set the Drive dial on top of the camera to Bracketing (BKT) - In the Shooting Menu => Drive Setting => Bkt Setting => Choose the three film simulations you want to use and (most important) - In the Shooting Menu => Drive Setting => Bkt Setting => Bkt Select : Choose Film Simulation

      I use back button focusing on X-T5 but only lock AF using Switch option. I have set both AF ON and AEL buttons to AF ON because I kept pressing the wrong button accidentally and I let the camera take care of AE Lock when shutter half-pressed. BTW I think Fujifilm could do also do a better job of locating the other Fn buttons particularly the one next to the shutter button as it is really difficult to get to. I;d prefer them all in a vertical line on the front so can easily feel which one I'm pressing!

      Can anyone provide me with the answer. I am new to fujifilm camera.  I am using the XT4 and in single shot mode, everytime, I take a shot, the Lcd screen will display "storing" and I have to wait for the message to disappear before I can take the next shot! Is there a way to turn this off.
