Hi all, I'm looking into focal reducer options and was wondering if it's possible to to use my Voigtlander 15mm with a focal reducer on the x system?

I've looked into it and discovered the following:

1) There doesn't seem to be any direct L39 to Fuji X reducers available. However I could get an M42 to Fuji X reducer and also get an L39 to M42 adapter.

2) I have read that with an L39 mount there could be issues as its a rangefinder lens and therefore has a short flange distance. What I couldn't clarify was wether this was an issue for DSLR cameras only or wether it applies to the Fuji X as well.

Anybody able to shed any light on this? It would be great to try my Voigtlander 15mm as a 15mm.

Thanks

A focal reducer isn't practically possible with rangefinder lenses, because there is not enough room for the focal reducer glass in between the sensor and the lens glass. The Metabones Speedbooster has 4 elements, and the other versions should be similar too.

Also, the L39 to M42 adapter won't provide infinity focus when adapted via the L39 to M42/M42 focal reducer/adapter, as an L39 lens (which is Leica rangefinder screwmount) needs to be much closer to the image sensor than the M42 mount allows. I think it would essentially be like having a macro extender, and you could only take very close-up photos.

    • I have the XT5, have been using the XF 33mm f1.4 and prior to this the XF 18-55 and have had this message appearing from time to time but then it started appearing more often. I finally took it to Fujifilm and they gave me this ridiculous diagnosis that the camera was exposed to liquid and that I needed to pay around 300 euros for repair. Needless to say that I have been taking good care of my camera and it was never in contact with any liquid.
    • I love my X70. Are there any good sites with active conversations about this camera? I’m going to be using it a lot more over the holiday.
    • Hi, I downloaded a LUT pack from here: https://www.fujifilm-x.com/fr-fr/support/download/lut/ But the LUTs don’t work at all in DaVinci Resolve. When I apply them to a node, absolutely nothing happens. Does it work for you? Thanks. P.S.: Why is there no Provia LUT?

    • More testing of lenses today.  Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 IF ED VR (same applies to VR II) - dreadful. Heavy vignette at all focal lengths and apertures. Obvioulsy fine in 35mm mode.  Nikon 70-200 f/4 - some vignetting at full frame (similar to 24mm f/1.8 and Sigma 105 f/2.8 so probably correctable or slight crop to 80-90MP). Perfect in 35mm mode.  If weight is an issue for you the kit 35-70 Fuji GFX lens is lightweight and better than you might expect but isn't a fast lens at f/4.5-5.6
