    • BobJ

It's a good question. No, I would'nt support it. Like others I "down graded" from full frame to save the weight and bulk. I think that the apsc sensor size is the most sensible compromise.

I think that Fujifilm made some very astute design and marketing decisions. You have to remember that they don't make the silicon for their sensors, only the filter array, and then only for the apsc cameras. Like almost all other camera makers except Canon they rely on Sony for their sensors. Sony have huge wafer manufacturing factories with the attendant advantages of scale and so they have a virtual monopoly. When Sony decided to make the large format sensor used in the GFX 50, and for all we know they may have done so for Fuji, Fuji made the clever decision not to attempt to compete in the full frame market. Instead they found their niche by going straight to medium format, where there is no competition at Fujis price point. Sony, Canon and Nikon have the full frame market pretty much sewn up and it would probably be suicidal for Fuji to try to compete. If I wanted to lgo arge again I would almost certainly go to the GFX as it seems to me to be the most sensible decision. Mind you, I would have to win the lottery first!

    • baldwin

Again, I don’t see why a full frame camera would make Fuji give up on development of APS-C when they didn’t do that when the GFX 50s was released. I also think people conflate support with buying. I’m not asking if you’d buy it, I’m asking if you’d be a cheerleader (support) for Fujifilm.

With respect if people only support the idea of Fujifilm FF but prefer owning APS-C cameras; why bother? GFX medium format in a different league and price category. Essentially camera market diminishing with less manufacturers: Ricoh-Pentax. Where is Yashica-CONTAX today? SONY FF new A7III price 2000 euros / USD based on low volumes and not made in Japan? Panasonic-Olympus with Leica M43 specialize in video like Panasonic GH5. FF not mandatory. Fujifilm need to prepare for new NIKON and CANON APS-C mirrorless cameras arriving next year?

    • Larry Bolch

With the excellence of the 18-55mm, the Fujinon XF 23mm f2 or Fujinon 35mm F2 are somewhat redundant. The 18-55 is too often called the "kit lens" since it has a zoom range comparable to actual APS-C kit lenses on consumer-level bodies. It is not. Though it shares the zoom range, it is in every way a full-fledged Fujinon. It is lightweight and affordable, but well built and capable of the quality expected of FX lenses.

At the most, you gain a bit of aperture, but not as dramatic as the f/1.4 versions of these focal lengths. They really do very little to increase your photographic capability. If you really want primes, the f/2.8 14mm, which is a brilliant lens, will considerably increase your wide-angle capability, while still being a fairly friendly focal length. At the other end of the scale, the f/2.0 90mm could give you a significant boost telephoto-wise.

If you can be content with zooms, the 55-200mm or the highly affordable 50-230mm will provide substantially greater versatility at affordable prices, albeit with considerable compromise with apertures.

    • Larry Bolch

The best way to choose a lens is to stop a moment and define the weakness of your current kit. What do you find most frequently frustrates you, presenting a lack of capability that your current kit prevents you from shooting? Just because you can afford another lens, and you have not bought some gear for a while is the WORST possible reason to buy a lens.

Do you do architecture and your back is constantly pressing against the wall, then you probably need a highly-corrected wide angle lens. If you have a kid that plays soccer, and you are constantly cropping most of the image away even at the maximum zoom, you need a longer focal length lens and the time to master it. Every purchase of camera gear should solve a definable problem. You don't shop for filters, lenses, tripods and accessories because they are "neat". You shop for solutions that empower your photographic capabilities unless your wallet is just too heavy to carry.

Once the problems have been clearly defined, solutions are much more obvious.

    • Lumens

I must admit I really love the idea, but as you say it's all guess work.  I tried using for landscape and ended up with spots out of focus as the steps moved too far in between.  I tried some Macro and didn't set enough shots so didn't get the detail/shot I wanted.  I did get one good shot, but it is truly nothing but guessing at this point.  I am better off to wait until they improve the process so you know what your settings are actually going to do.

My X-T2 arrived today and I began the search for spare batts looking for the NP-126S vs the NP-126 "non S" aka X-T1.  I realize the X-T1 batts can be used but I'm having difficulty finding non-Fuji batts specifically for the X-T2.  All of the usual suspects such as Wasabi, Watson, Adorama's Green Machine etc for the X-T2 are all labeled NP-126.

      Am I missing something? Thanks

Don't waste your money (or risk damaging your camera) with the third-party batteries; most of them don't work very well.

    • 5Six

I have 2 Fuji batteries and 6 non Fuji batteries, Wasabi brand via Amazon.  True, they do not last as long as the Fuji batteries maybe 50-70%, but they are only 1/3 the price for 2 batteries and the charger!  I've had no issues with them.  I'll usually keep the Fuji batteries for the X-T2 body and the Wasabi ones for the grip.  Granted I'm not using this camera for professional work, as I have my Canon full frame gear for that (weddings, portraits)

I've also used the Wasabi brand in my Sony A6000 for a few years now also with no issues.

    • Chas

Well, it seems there are some issues with the update. Fuji has posted this on its website.

      Details of the problem

      • 1. When RAW files, which were taken by X-T2 (before firmware ver.4.00), are converted in camera (ver.4.00) or by "FUJIFILM X RAW STUDIO", they are not converted properly.
      • 2. When pressing the shutter button halfway under certain conditions, the live view can flicker.
      • 3. In rare cases, a hang-up can occur.

If you want, you can update the update to v4.01 which in effect takes you back to v3.00. (If you do update to v4.01 you do not get any of the enhancements in v4.00)

I don’t but here there is a comprehensive review of one.

Fun though it is, it will give much the same look to many pictures after a very short while.

I am curious why you would want a circular fisheye?

I have a rectilinear fisheye which is fun , but has relatively few applications. A circular one, would have, for me, even less.

As I already have a UWA lens, a circular fisheye would be more "differentiating" than a full frame fisheye.

I know its use would be highly limited but I think it could be useful in tight spaces.

    • milandro

it is not so much in the circular image that you would find this useful but rather more in the angle of view.

But it takes all sorts. If that is your favorite then it is.
