  1. Hi all, I am not sure if this is an issue that I the photographer am making, or if it's an issue with my lens? Normal shots are awesome and its a great lens. However I am getting into cityscapes/long exposure, and I am noticing really ugly blown highlights with squiggles around them. This was shot at F/20, but even at larger apertures I have noticed this affect also. Maybe its adobe lightroom? Thoughts?
  2. Hello there, I recently 'beefed up' to the Fuji 18-135mm zoom for my X-E1 and gave it a quick spin just recently. I wrote a few initial impressions here: https://mikeosbornphoto.com/2016/03/03/come-closer/ I already have the 18-55 kit and 60mm macro. Where would you think of going next? And how about non-native lenses that sit well with the Fuji system? Many thanks for your advice in advance, With best wishes from Mike
  3. Out of the lenses i'm thinking of getting, the only one i want and will eventually get even if i go for the 16-55, is the 35mm 1.4. So my options are : 1. 16-55 F2.8 WR or 2. Samyang 12mm F2, XF 35mm F1.4 and XF 27 f2.8 The reason of the 27mm is because it comes together with a 35mm in a very good promotion in my country. And i'd still be able to afford the samyang for a wider range shooting. What i mainly shoot ?! Street Photography, portrait and landscapes. I'll eventually use my lenses a few times for night photography and for a few events a cover (weddings, parties, but i don't do this often). If i go for the 16-55, basically i'll have the workhorse for the few times i get paid for my photography. If i go for the fixed lenses 12,27,35, i feel my street photography will improve and get better results. I know in the end it's a personal decision, but i'd still like to get some opinions, probably from owners of all these lenses. So... what would your option be ? thank you for your time.
  4. I have the X-T10 since August, I absolutly love this camera after years of D90, it came with XC 16-50 and 50-230, sold the later as I have no use for it. The xc 16-50 is very good but feel a prime lens like the new 23mm f2 could give me more fun, IQ and will push me to advance my photography skills. By IQ I am not only talking sharpness but also contrast,microcontrast,tonality,colors... What do you think? should I get one or keep my money ?
  5. Advice please: recently commissioned to take some Band pics at evening gigs, low light, flashing green, red stage lights and so on. I used XF 35mm 1.4 and XF 60mm being the only lenses I have currently, but don't have sufficient reach with these. The XF 90mm does not have image stabilisation, but is a little faster, but musicians do not stand still. Shooting at 250th is not ideal in low light I think? What about the zoom 50-200? [can't really afford the 55-140] Would there be an advantage with the IS? given the lens is slower? But then I am going to get subject motion blur if i shoot at low shutter speed. And I don't really want to lug around an extending tele. for other shooting projects. Is there any news about the XF120/85mm which could be an option, I guess? So I am in a dilemma, all help and advice appreciated.
  6. Hello everybody. I am new here. I switched to Fuji from Panasonic and Blackmagic. Quite happy, but I have a big issue with the XF 10-24. Please see the attached video, the issue starts at 3". Any idea?
  7. Hi, Does anyone else notice the display flickering during zooming in AF-S mode? Can someone else with an X30 please check if yours does the same thing. If it does, it may be a design 'feature', if it doesn't then I will need to send my camera back as it appears to have a fault. Whilst I am zooming from wide to tele, with shutter release half-pressed and the focus is thus locked, I hear a sound (like the autofocus-mechanism sound) from the front of the camera. Each click is accompanied with a bright flicker on the screen. This is repeatable. When zooming from wide to tele it clicks 3 times, through the range from wide to tele. it does it every time. When zooming the other way (with shutter release still half-pressed), then I hear the same three clicks, but there is no screen flicker in that zoom direction. I am assuming the the X30 is re-focusing during zooming whilst the shutter is half-pressed. The flicker happens in the EVF as well as the LCD. I have IS switched off, and also advanced anti-blur is switched off. It is not related to fluorescent light flicker, as it was doing it in daylight this morning. It does not flicker if focus is locked with AF/AE lock button. It does not flicker in MF when zooming. Therefore, I deduce this to be autofocus-related, and may be some interference between the AF-mech electronics and the display. Firmware was 1.01, I updated to 1.03 and the behaviour is the same. Can anyone with an X30 please check your camera's behaviour for me please? FWIW, the X10 doesn't do that, probably because it won't refocus during zooming with the release half-pressed. Thanks in advance.
  8. What are the best zoom lenses and prime lenses for 4K 24 FPS video on the XT-4? I'm looking to duplicate the film days as closely as I can. The greatest like Steven Spielberg (Schindler's List, E.T. The Extraterrestrial, Duel), John Carpenter (Escape from New York/L.A., Big Trouble in Little China). I plan to do Black and White, and color. Thanks.
  9. Hi everyone, I started 'serious' photography in the 1970s, using Russian 35mm cameras like Zeniths, Zorkis and Feds (it was an unwritten law that everybody had to start with them). Latched onto Pentax, then Bronica, DSLR Nikons and have finally regressed to that retro look of Fuji, although I swore I'd never buy one again after the fiasco of the 'Lens Control Error' in my XF1. Bought an X-E3 but have ditched the 15-45mm lens because it doesn't suit my style of photography (Candid People shots). I like to get close to my subjects, shooting from the hip using an ultra-wide lens set at f8/f11, with aperture priority. I didn't enjoy using the aforementioned zoom especially after setting it at the widest angle and strolling round the streets of my nearest town, only to discover later that I had inadvertently touched the (one-touch) zoom ring and ended up with a load of useless shots at 45mm! I'm looking at buying the 10-24mm but am worried that zooming on this is also motorised. Could any of you hardened Fujiholics let me know if the zooming is manual on this lens or am I showing my age and ALL Fuji zooms are motorised? Thank you in advance
