  1. I have managed to get dust underneath the glass which sits just above the sensor in my X-Pro2 and wondered if anyone else has had this problem and managed to solve it? I took it to Jessops for a sensor clean but when this didn’t solve hue problem, I took a closer look myself (yes, I know, I did that the wrong way round for £30!) and you can make out a tiny fibre and another speck which are clearly beneath the uppermost glass (the ‘low pass filter’?) sitting just above the filter. Rather annoying and, like any dirt on this part of the camera, comes out very clearly at f22 against a light background. I think this was caused - ironically - with my first ever camera cleaning kit which came with a puffer. I think I must have been over enthusiastic with it and blown the dust in there. Silly me for thinking it was more tightly sealed. I’ve asked both Fuji UK and the Camera Repair Workshop in M Keynes for advice but if anyone on here has thoughts and advice I would really welcome that too. Yours, New to the Fuji-X website. Luke
  2. I've just traded-in my X-T2 for an X-H1 since I like it ergonomics and IBIS. Normally I use CaptureOne for raw processing and occasionally ON1 Photo Raw. Their 2020 edition is a big improvement for Fuji shooters. However, I wanted to revisit a raw file from my X-T2 and run it again through the in-camera raw converter using X Raw Studio. Much to my surprise, the software didn't accept my X-H1 nor my X-Pro2 to process the X-T2 raw file. It needs to connect to an X-T2 (which I don't own anymore)!! In the user manual Fujifilm states: "Please note, the RAW conversion is only compatible with a RAW file taken by the same camera model as the camera connected to the computer. For example, if the connected camera is a FUJIFILM X-T2, the RAW file must be taken by a FUJIFILM X-T2." I was stunned... Is this me doing something wrong or just incredibly bad design by Fujifilm? I fully understand that an older camera can't process newer X-Trans CMOS4/X-Processor4 files. But all of my current camera's are X-Trans CMOS3 and X-Processor Pro just like the X-T2 with which I made the photos. I would expect compatibility to be depending on the sensor/processor combination (and pref some backwards compatibility as well for my X-Pro1 files), but not on the actual precise camera type?! This makes X Raw Studio useless when you update your camera. Clearly not a great business model...

  4. I bought my X-Pro2 in June, 2016, and I have never updated the firmware. I want to get to the latest firmware. Is the latest version (v5.00, I believe) comprehensive, and upgrade directly to that version, or do I need to load each past firmware version in order and individually? Thanks for any help you can offer! James
  5. Just got a 2nd hand Xpro2 and I'm having the strangest issue. When I'm filming in full manual with a mechanical shutter the exposure doesn't change if I set it at 1/8000 SS down to 1/50 SS. If I switch to electronic then the exposure works correctly but I want to use the mechanical shutter to avoid rolling shutter. I also don't hear any noise when using the mechanical shutter. I read the manual and I'm still stumped. I reset the settings to default, changed the display brightness, and turned on an off preview Exp./wb in manual mode and it's still doing the same thing. I'm worried that the mechanical shutter curtain is stuck open and I was sold a lemon but I'm not getting the "turn the camera on and off" error. This is my first Fujifilm camera and when I tested it out, I didn't realize it was in electronic shutter mode because of the digital ES noise >.<

  7. After upgrading to FW5.0, the IMAGE DISP. function has changed totally. For some shootings, I used the setting of 0.5 sec and the nice thing was, that I could quickly see my image in the viewfinder LCD display, without taking my camera down and go on shooting. This does now not work anymore. You can only see the image on the display back of the camera. That's stupid! How can we have this back??? The view mode is set to "Eye sensor and LCD Image display". If it is set to Viewfinder only, it works as it should. However, I want to use both, Eye sensor and LCD Image display. So this must be a bug...

  9. Hello everyone, I had the opportunity to spend a week in the Dolomites area to catch the autumn colors ! my trusty x-pro2 and x-t2 were from the trip. We start with a classic of the Dolomites, the church of San-Giovanni in Ranui near Santa Magdalena. The sky mixed with some remainings of fog, made really the mountain glow and burn in a special way. 1) X-pro2 - 16-55 @ f10, some exposures mixed to achieve this image as the contrast between the different plans was enormous.   10. I am at a juncture that I believe many of you are, or have been, at. Every now and again I find myself 'lost in tech' and need to ground my self again to improve my photography and focus on the things that really matter, not f stops, focal lengths, micro-contrast but photography; painting with light. I currently have a handful of fuji lenses, need to sell some and probably need to buy some to achieve something I believe will be better...maybe not. As we all know, but don't always admit to, the most important piece of gear we own is the 12 inches behind the camera. My best photos ever taken were on equipment seriously lacking in 'currentless' So, to get to the crunch.... I want a selection of gear to capture my life events, in decent quality, to help others capture theirs through small photo shoots and to record beautiful places I have experienced. Could be the bar, the theatre, the wonders of the world or my garden.. it's all available. I'll ignore my collection of film camera's for the minute and focus on Fuji X-series, why were here... I have read reviews on all the lenses currently available and have decided on setting out my stage as buying the best I can afford without spending a fortune, I work in a normal job!! I started out with an X100 and used it alongside my Canon 20D, and then 5DII full frame with some nice glass. I have now sold all Canon gear (apart from 430EXII speedlight) and ended up with X-Pro2 and X100T. The X-pro2 is an amazing camera, my excuses diminish shooting with it. I can split the rest of this blurb into 2 sections - my advice and my outstanding queries Anything I say is purely user based. I dont really pixel peep, check for distortion levels and far corner sharpness when I dont look there..I want to see a nice looking capture of a nice thing, end. Some focal lengths are definitely more suitable to the success of what you set out to achieve, nothing more, nothing less. I personally, and it's personal, like to capture, street, scenic, people images with a smattering of wildlife thrown in, so have based my lens selections on it...apart from a couple of them that came my way. The widest I own is the 18mm, a fairly dis-respected lens, I love it, small discreet and nearly all my scenic stuff shot thought it. At f8 with a ND10 filter I have captured some beautiful images, well at least I like them.. I have the 27mm pancake bought as part of the X-pro1 promotion but have only used it for a handful of shots. I think its the lack of aperture ring on this FL that puts me off, a big reason for coming to Fuji was the lovely manual ring....more later on a lens I have bought today that hasn't!! It has a great deal of sharpness but the f2.8 on this FL doesn't give a lot of scope of creating a nice background blur. It is however a great lens for setting at f5.6 or f8, zone focussing and just clicking away. Its quite liberating not thinking about the camera The X100T following on from my X100 confirmed to me the usefulness of the more that useful FOV but I still went ahead and bought the 23mm f2 even though I already had it!! I convinced myself that I could leave my X100 at home and still have the FL when it suited me?? Kinda works as it does give me a smaller 'foot print' The 23 f2 on the X-pro2 is sharper and better contrast than the X100T at f2 but comes with baggage, the X100T is where it's at. Difficult to explain but feels so good. I have an olympus 35SP and a Rollie 35S that yields similar feelings. On the 35mm front I own the f1.4 and the f2, the 1.4 came first on a instinctual ebay purchase one boozy night, I do like it but wanted the f2 so WEX helped me out. The form factor of the f2 is nice on the x-pro and the images are sharp and colourful, strangely almost too much. The 1.4 seems more 'natural', there is a very high chance I will sell the f2 as the subject matter I shoot doesn't demand the faster focus etc I bought the 18-55 second hand, still have it but cant get excited. It allows flexibility and saves me moving my feet, but pics are only recording whats there, difficult to add artistic impression. I might use it for Thailand to record my holiday but will need some nice primes to capture it beautifully. Now onto the the longer focal lengths...this is where it gets difficult for me. I bought the 56mm f1.2 as I needed a fast, short tele for a wedding, what a lens!!! I love it. The rendition whether optically perfect or not, is amazing. Once you get used to the razor thin DOF and the huge aperture/shutter speed selection the images it gathers are outstanding, it's 1.2 so I want to use it at 1.2. It is bulky but coming from a DSLR/Medium format film background it's insignificant. I'll ask a question later on the 50mm f2 I bought the XC 50-230mm today after much research and the reluctance to spend such a lot of money on the 55-200mm for something I only occasionally use. I'm going to Thailand later this year and doing a bit of nature park stuff. Hopefully it will help me yield decent images of creepy crawly, furry, jumpy things. The most fun I have just now with longer FL's is the veritable Nikkor 105 f2.5 and the Zeiss 135mm f3.5. Both the lenses on the X-pro2 are amazing, they take some practice but with the focus peaking and EVF the results can be superb. If fact my favourite butterfly photo was through the Nikkor, the smooth rendition and colour reproduction is to be lusted over. Hopefully the 50-230 wont make me sell them.. Onto my request for help This week I went camping to a beautiful location, The Island of Mull on the west coast of Scotland. I was changing lenses way too often, lovely scenery with the 18 or 23 then the Zeiss 135 for the Golden Eagles. In the towns the pace was pretty slow so I managed to get some lovely shots of Tobermory harbour with the 23mm. I do wish I had the 50mm f2 at times though for detail capture around the town. I want to go prepared for Thailand with the right kit, I felt stressed on Mull getting the right gear together which did impact on my holiday, in Thailand i would like stress free so what do I take? The 18-55/50-230 plus a fast short sounds the best combo, what do you think? I have asked this forum on this before but without my experiences, please excuse me. If you want me to share some pictures captured with the above lenses let me know Please let me know your thoughts Cheers

  12. I did a long exposure last weekend for star trails and while it looks nice I cannot use it because it is full of these colorful artifacts. On different long exposures they appear in similar areas. They also appear on my X-T1 sometimes. I have had the sensor cleaned for dust at a camera shop on both cameras.
  13. I really fell quite hard while cycling with this camera hanging on my belly. The lens (not on this image) is broken, but this camera is really unbelievably strong! Everything seems to work like before the crash, I'm really surprised of the strength of this camera! Definitely feels like a pro body! (And I also love the images it produces by the way.) This photo was taken with an iPhone.
  14. I have recently received a replacement body. The camera appears to be working fine, I just cannot escape the feeling this body produces a bit more noise than the previous one... I have never done someling like this with the previous body, but I wanted to visualize the noise a bit. To do that, I made e picture with the lens cap mounted (not sure if it is 100% closed to light of course). Settings: f/16,exposure time 10s, ISO 25600, Lens modulation optimizer: off, Long exposure noise reduction: off, Raw development: +3EV, Noise reduction -4, Sharpness: -4, Highlight tone: -2, Shadow tone: -2, Color: +4, DR100, Velvia, sRGB The resulting jpeg shows a lot of noise (of course), especially toward the top left corner and bottom edge: I would like to know if other samples show a similar noise level and pattern/if this is 'normal'.

  16. Few weeks ago we finally exchanged rings with my wife. Nothing too big, a little ceremony at my parents garden with 60 friends and family members. Although my wife wasn't too happy, having me carrying my camera with me, I couldn't leave my Fuji in the bag and had to take some behind the scenes shots. Here are some of them.   22. Hey guys, this is my first post here. Yesterday I took my x-pro2 and the 50-140 to the zoo to test the combo and it did not disappoint whatsoever.   23. I want to know if it's only my problem or not. and if not, Fuji must fix it. Problem --- A delay is happened when I release the shutter on ERF. Test 1 --- Release the shutter without half-pressing 1)in OVF / MF mode. 2)in EVF / MF mode. 3)in ERF / MF mode. =>1), 2) have no any delay is happened, but 3) A delay is happened with processing sound. Test 2 --- half-pressing (prefocussing) shutter 1)in OVF / AF mode. 2)in EVF / AF mode. 3)in ERF / AF mode. =>same as Test 1. =>1), 2) have no any delay is happened, but 3) A delay is happened with processing sound. Conclusion ERF makes a delay which is not supposed to be happened. TBH, I know it's not only my problem because I heard this issue from others as well, but I couldn't find any article or review about this. I really want to use ERF all the time, but it annoying me now. I can lose the chance to catch the right moment because of this issue. Fuji need to fix it!
