  1. Just an FYI to everyone, repairs can be very expensive. In January, the point focus-checking screen became stuck in the "up" position. See pic. So, I took it in to the local Fujifilm importer, which is based in Singapore. A week later I was informed that it would have to be shipped to Singapore to be fixed, and this could take 2-3 months "due to the pandemic." Okay. What am I going to do? Today, nearly 2 months later, I finally heard back that the cost of the repair would be $730 USD. I've had it nearly 2 years, so it's out of warranty. I asked why the whole "Lens Const" needed to be changed when it was a viewfinder problem. I was quickly informed that the lens+viewfinder is one integrated part and cannot be changed separately. So, they've got me over a barrel. I don't think anyone is trying to rip me off, but just wanted to share and warn you that a repair -- and not one due to dropping the camera or other trauma -- can be traumatic to the owner's bottom line. :-)
  2. Hello, I have a 2 year old X100F that has a problem with the aperture blades being stuck. It appears to be suck at about f2.8-4. I bought the camera new in the US about 2 years ago, I currently live in Asia and need advice on having it repaired. I contacted the place of purchase but they can't help because its beyond warranty. I contacted the Fujifilm repair USA office but they told me to contact the Fujifilm Malaysia office. Fuji Malaysia said the US office is wrong that I should contact an office closer to my area. They did however suggest resetting the camera preferences but this was no help. My last resort is to contact the Fujifilm Japan office but it is closed indefinitely due to quarantine. So my only solution may be to try and fix it myself. Has anyone here experienced their aperture blades stuck in their X100F? Has anyone been able to take the camera apart and fix it themselves? I'm extremely disappointed with Fuji and that this happened in less than 2 years of owning this camera and now no reasonable solution to fix it. I've also read that the repair for this problem is quite expensive. It would be nice to know if anyone has had similar issues and any luck with repairs. Until now I loved Fuji and this camera however I can't be more disappointed. Thanks
  3. Hello all, just wanted to share my not so great experience (I'm trying to be nice) with the Fujifilm customer service in the US. While traveling abroad I had a little accident after which my beloved XF 16-55mm zoom got a loose mount. I sent the lens to Edison, NJ for repair. After several phone calls and a few weeks of waiting I finally got the lens back. The repair was not cheap -- $190 plus shipment, but I was happy that, at least, I did not have to buy a new lens. I've heard that despite the service is slow (I can confirm: it is), the results were usually great. People were happy. Before sending and item for repair you have to fill a special repair form. In the form there is an option to exchange an item for a refurb in the same condition as the original item. Which is made to expedite the process. At first, I was somewhat reluctant to check the box, but after some research, decided to take a risk. Boy was I wrong! So I received a refurb. Based on the serial number, my original lens was made in the last quarter of 2017, the lens I received is at least a year and a half older. Well, ok... Aside from the loose mount, my lens looked and felt like new, no scratches. The paint is off in several places on the replacement lens. No big deal, but it does not match the condition of my lens!. I put the lens on my XT-3, mount it on tripod and take a few test shots. The lens feels different, it feels old and heavily-used. You know, I had a lot of lenses, and I can tell the difference between a heavily-used lens and lightly-used one. Aperture ring is somewhat loose and clicks differently. I take a few shots and I feel that the rubber ring on the lens is loose, it's so loose that I have to squeeze it tight to be able to zoom in and out. And while the test shots were okay -- the lens was sharp, I'm very disappointed and going to return the lens tomorrow, and file a claim. You can see images attached to the post to see it for yourself. The lens is certainly not in the condition matching the lens I sent Looking at the screw heads it seems the screws were screwed and unscrewed dozens of times or the person who did it was drunk! The lesson -- don't check the exchange box. I will post an update after I talk to the service, I hope, at least, I could get my original lens back. I'm sharing this experience in hope that it will be useful for someone. Do you have experience filing claims to FujiFilm service? If so, please let me know. Thanks! -Serge
  4. Modern Fujinon lens have electronical parts that may fail due to water damage or other reasons. In most cases it worths pay for repair, but sometimes repair costs are too high and its cheaper to just buy another sample. This Fujinon XF 27mm F2.8 sample was electronically broken, so I've found relatively simple way to convert it into fully manual focus lens. More details in related article: Fujinon XF 27mm F2.8 lens - true manual focus mod
  5. I recently picked up the 18mm on eBay and I'm finding that the aperture ring is extremely tight. It feels like maybe it was repaired and the screws were tightened too much. Wondering if you're aware of any instructional repair videos or if you know how to adjust this.
  6. Hello everyone, First time poster, long time reader. I use the EVF on my x-e1 90% of the time and all of a sudden, without a warning, the evf just dies. I can toggle through the (evf - eye sensor - lcd) modes, but when I get to the EVF part of it, I just get a blank EVF. Does anyone know if this can be fixed without it being sent in for repairs? A setting I may have overlooked? Perhaps a magical re-boot sequence? A secret hand shake? What ever. I'll try anything. ***ALMOST anything for you wise guys out there!*** Thanks for any info.
