  1. Hi Everyone, I am hoping for a little help with something that has been confusing me recently. I have seen a lot of posts in the forums where people are saying things along the lines of the 56mm f1.2 Fuji lens should really be considered as a f1.8 when compared to lenses on a full frame camera? Is this correct? The thread I saw it in most recently was: http://prometheus.med.utah.edu/~bwjones/2014/08/fuji-56mm-f1-2/ specifically the following post: I understand the theory, (ie bigger lenses mean more light) but surely this has all been factored into the Fuji lens calculations to ensure the comparisons are accurate. There are also factors such as the sensors proximity to the back of the lens on mirrorless cameras that to some extent must cancel the size issue out. I would really appreciate some help understanding this one. Thanks John
  2. Hi all, I am newbie from Sheffield, England with a brand new X-T 10 - and I would like to get out of Auto mode... I've always been a big fan of shots with a shallow depth-of-field and a nice blurry / creamy background. I have tried to emulate some of these myself with my X-T 10 and XC 16-50mm kit lens, but have largely failed. Here's a shot of my back garden shot at f18. Ignore the terrible composition and the slight under-exposure. Sorry it's more of a thumbnail than an image, but there appears to be a new guy limit on image files sizes. And here's a shot of my back garden at f3.5. Now there is a bit of background blur when I am shooting wide-open (f3.5 is as wide as the XC kit lens will go). But not a whole lot - and a lot less than the blurry / creamy backgrounds that you see in the magazines, manuals and "how to" guides at even higher f numbers. Am I doing something wrong? Or do I just need a faster lens to get the effect I am after? Right now, the only way that I can blur the background the way I want to is to use the "miniature' filter. That's a cool look, but also rather stylised. And it feels like cheating... Thanks in advance. Be kind, remember I am newbie! MW
  3. I have this lens (XF mount version) for about 4 month, and like how it performs on Fuji X-E2s. The only thing I was missing - is click-stop aperture. Today I've finally made that mod : ) It's quite simple if you have proper tools and repair skills, so including related article to use: Click-stop aperture for 7artisans 35mm F1.2 lens
  4. Hi guys, i want to change the aperture setting to eather the front or back command dial. I found the menu option but it’s not working. Also read many similar problem posts but couldn’t figure it out. Using the 10-24 and 35 lenses. Please help me as I need the setting desperately to use the f setting in my underwater housing. Thanks a lot for help! Really appreciate it. Alex
  5. Can anyone explain this annoying phenomenon? X-T4 with 18-55 kit lens. Everything set to manual. Only time the camera won't do this is if the aperture is set to 2.8 when at 18mm. Set like that, you will see the aperture change from 2.8 to 4 as it gets to 55mm, BUT no exposure stepping issue as seen here in this vid. wierd xt4.mp4
  6. Hi all, does anyone have experience with a K&F adapter and the Canon TSE lens? I understand i cannot set the aperture with the Fuji camera. Now: Some say a canon lens will default to open aperture. While K&F says, it will stop down fully, (which i can't imagine). Some say, set the aperture on a Canon body, then take the lens off (probably while holding the shut-aperture-button??). Can anyone tell if and how it works? Thanks! I mean, that TSE 17 mm is a wonderful piece of glass and all 😃
  7. I wonder whether anyone else has had this problem (I know someone else has - from a post on the X-T3 FB group. I just cannot persuade the front command dial to adjust the aperture! Tried using the 18-55 and the 80mm. And yes: it's set to Aperture Priority (lens not set to A; shutter knob set to A; ISO set to...well, any setting other than A). EVF confirms I'm in Aperture Priority. And if I set EC to C and press in the front command, the dial does adjust EC. So it seems it's just the aperture adjustment I can't get to work. And yes: in Menu, I went to wrench/spanner, selected Button/Dial Setting/Command Dial Setting, and set "1" (F) to Aperture. Any suggestions? Of course I can change aperture on the lens, but the front command dial SHOULD work (shouldn't it?), and it would be handy if it did... Thanks for any comments! Heather
  8. Something bizarre happened today. I was taking pictures with my XF 56mm f/1.2 (non-APD) coupled to an 11mm Fujifilm Macro Extension Adapter on X-Pro1. Camera locked up during focussing and the aperture ring felt sticky. Upon restart the aperture ring stopped clicking. Tried on three other bodies (X-E2, X-T1, and X-T10) same issue, and more than often the camera OS freezes requiring reboot. It happened to my Xf 18mm f/2 once while using it on an X-E2 body. I had the same 11mm Macro Extension Adapter coupled. At the time the lens was still within dealer's return period and was exchanged by the store. BTW, I do use both (11mm and 16mm) Macro Extension Adapters quite frequently. Any of you guys ever had this happen? Is there anything I can do to fix my lens or do should I send it in for warranty repair? Cheers!
