Hello, my first Topic here, photo made with XT1 and XF56mm Iso 400 f 1.2 1/950 sec greetings jakke
  2. Hi, my first post. This post could probably be in the X T1 area as well. I was a long time Canon shooter, moved recently to Fuji and the X T1. Since the X Pro1 was kinda dated and the X T1 seemed to be much more current, i decided to go that route. So, i just pre-ordered an X Pro2 this morning and I'm curious if anyone is going to wait a couple of months and get the X T2 in June when it's released, as opposed to jumping into an X Pro2? Typically i don't wait for things, as you never know when something will actually get released, but this seems pretty firm at June/July and that's only a few months away. Will the X T1 have more/better/advanced capabilities than the X Pro2? Or will it be very similar? What camera is suited for what shooting styles? Canon seemed much more clear in the different models of cameras...You bought a 1Dx if you were a sports/wildlife shooter and you bought a 5D iii if you were a studio/portrait shooter. I don't see at this point much difference between the X Pro and the XT... Help please. I know this is just a guessing game at this point, but curious to hear anyones opinions. Thx!
  3. Hello, I'm Marleen and I'm a fuji-fan from Belgium. Started with the Fuji X-T1, and recently bought the X-T10 as back-up. If you have any questions, just ask. Regards, Marleen.
  4. Hi, Has anyone tried the above combo? What do you think?
  5. My situation is quite an interesting one. Hopefully somebody can shed some light for me! I shoot primarily portraiture, fashion , and fine art, and my main system for the last few years has been the Sony A7. It has served me well despite the limitations of the first-gen body, and the 11+7bit raw with banding issues in rare cases. I preordered the X-Pro 2 back in January with the intent of dedicating this camera for outdoor portrait/fashion work in natural light, where the lower noise of my full frame A7 is not relevant. The Sony A7 would remain my workhorse, especially with the ability to use vintage lenses without cropping. While I patiently awaited for the X-Pro 2 for the last two months, I have been spending some time with an XT-1 we have in our family to get a sense of the Fuji X system. Here are my thoughts: -The XT-1's EVF is amazing. I love its large size for easy composition. -The handling is great with the battery grip. -Overall sharpness and dynamic range is not as good as the Sony A7. -The film simulation modes are excellent. -Noise levels in low light cannot match my A7 (I did not expect it to, but I also did not expect such a large difference). Yet, I have taken some of my best images on the XT-1, and had several published as a result. The camera is just so intuitive to use. Last week, I picked up my X-Pro2 with a 35 f2 and a 23mm f1.4. I have not had a chance to use it for any portraiture or fashion work still. But, here are my thoughts with it: -I miss the large EVF from the XT-1. -I find myself using the EVF since accurate framing is most important for my style of photography. -The OVF is useless for anything other than the XF 35mm f/2 lens (due to viewfinder blockage). -The heavier weight of the X-Pro 2 is nice, but I miss having a battery grip for the added the shutter button and better ergonomics for portrait shooting. -The X-Pro 2 is a beautiful camera, and the added image quality compared to the XT-1 is very real. -My preferred (full frame) focal lengths have always been: 35mm, 50mm, and in rare occassions/studio portraits an 85mm, so the X-Pro 2 has no real limitations there. -Files from the X-Pro 2 with the XF 35mm f2 are sharper than my Sony A7 with the Zeiss 55mm, and colours are also richer. -X-Pro 2 has slightly more noise than my A7, but is easily removeable in Lightroom. -Handling and stability is better on the XT-1, but to be honest, the X-Pro 2 is becoming easier to use after spending more time with it. -Focus point selection with the joystick is nice. It helps me miss less shots where eye-focus is critical. What about other hidden benefits, such as being able to engage my subjects (people) better with my left eye open, or the emotional appeal of this camera? I am not sure yet, but I shoot all my cameras using my right eye, but I do love using this camera. Perhaps I still need to test the camera out more in real world shoots. So, to summarize (so far) -The large EVF of the XT-1 is excellent for composing. I wish the X-Pro 2 had such a large EVF, as I do not see myself using the OVF on the X-Pro 2 much. Even the X100 has a larger and brighter viewfinder! -The X-Pro 2 inspires me more to take photos, but has more limitations than the XT-1, since it has no shutter button/no battery grip, no tilting screen, etc. -Images from the X-Pro 2 look fantastic, and has even better colour and sharpness compared to my Sony A7. -The X-Pro 2 is not impossible to use, but the XT-1 is easier to use (but inspires me less). It is no secret that the XT-2 will have all the improvements of the X-Pro 2 (and more perhaps), but that is a different camera than the X-Pro 2, and becomes a Fuji version of my Sony A7. Other thoughts: -My ideal camera would probably be an X100 with the 24MP X-Trans III of the X-Pro 2. I actually enjoy the large and bright OVF in the X100. Also, the extra high flash sync allows me to use speedlites outdoors for fashion work instead of carrying studio lights with battery packs. Granted, I do not use artificial light much outdoors, and I have an old X100 already. I could even buy the teleconverter and have a 35mm and 50mm focal length to use. -The files from the X-Pro 2 are essentially good enough to replace my Sony A7. On the other hand, there are advantages of having the Sony (low light, choice of vintage lenses - I would have lots of fun with a low-light A7S2 for some projects). Plus, going Fuji-only feels like riding a unicycle without any training! Should I keep the X-Pro 2 and decide what to do with it when the XT-2 comes out? Learn to deal with its limitations and just focus on the photos? (since I already have a workhorse full frame A7). Sell the X-Pro 2 and use the XT-1 until the XT-2 is out? Or, something else?
  6. I am having an issue with my XT1 electronic viewfinder flickering and sometimes going out completely. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I ask because I have actually already had the same problem once before: It was repaired under warranty by FujiFilm in December of last year. I was told it was simply a 'loose wire' (Flex cable?) that was not properly soldered. Now they are telling me that they will no longer repair under warranty because it is now past the initial 12-month warranty period (since July). However, It seems to me that this is obviously a defect- one that should have been repaired already once, and the same exact problem is now occurring again. Is there not some kind of a guarantee on repair work? -Jason
  7. I'll be going to England (Cornwall & London) next May. I know the weather there can be unpredictable. I don't plan to be out in a downpour, but I don't want to let a little drizzle or sand stop me. I have an XT1 body. Will the 18-55mm be okay? Or should I consider the 16-55mm, just in case?
  8. Hello Guys My name is Amir, I'm a Photographer from Iran. I recently Joined this Community because I need your advice or opinion on a situation here. I'm a film shooter and recently I decided to buy a Fujifilm X Camera. I mainly do Landscapes, along with some portraits and street. I'm on a tight budget (roughly 1100$) and new Fuji products are very expensive here! (more than their normal price worldwide!) so I'm not in a good financial position to buy a Fuji X-T2... But recently I came across two options here. one is a brand new Fujifilm X-T1+18-55 kit lens around 800$ price tag (special offer) and the other one is a used X-T20+18-55 kit lens (roughly 2000 shots) around 950$. Depending on my needs, which one do you suggest? I'm planning to go with it for a minimum of 3 years so its a crucial choice for me here and also the weather sealing is a real deal breaker for me. what do you suggest? what should I do?
  9. Hi all, I hope someone out there can help me figure out how to get my SD card out of my XT1??? First, I'm not new, I've been using 2 XT1's for over a year. Yesterday I shot a big job for an Interior Designer and this morning when I went to copy the images the SD card will not come out. When I push on the card to eject it, there is NO movement, normally it pushes down a little then pops up. This card is stuck, no movement. I'm very nervous as I have a very important job on that card and can't risk looking any images. Please can anyone advise me how to get the card out without damaging the card? Thank you!
  10. I bought a used Fujifilm X-T1 from B&H with a 9+ condition. Knowing that it's a reputable company I am confident that the item was thoroughly checked when they got it from the previous owner. To cut the chase. While I was tinkering with the settings of the cam and how it functions, I was excited to try the wireless transfer feature. Thus, pressing the wifi button to try transfer or control the camera through wifi. But every time I pressed it the camera will just load the screen with the wireless thingie and when the green wireless signal icon flashed it suddenly freezes. Turning the camera off doesn't seem to work and I have to remove the battery to exit from it. Any advice on how to fix this? I'm on the latest firmware, by the way. I assume and hope that it's firmware problem and can get it fixed on the next update.

  14. I anxiously awaited FW 4.0 for my X-T1 and 55-200 to see if it would/could come close to my former Olympus E-M1 and 50-200 SWD lens. Pretty impressed with the results. My standard test subject, my speedy 10-year-old, runs at me full bore down the sidewalk. Did the same test, starting at the same tree, with me standing in the same spot with the different camera and lens combos, albeit at different times, but all within the last few months. First, the Olympus, done March 8, 2015. Firmware 3.0 for the E-M1was transformative, giving the Oly useable CAF. The best of two samples was 78% in-focus for the SWD lens version (this is an adapted lens from the legacy 4/3 system, the native 40-150 2.8 would be better). This sample had 42 frames in an 8 second burst, 33 images sharp. The original 50-200 without the faster SWD motor, gave me 45% in-focus rate. Now, to Fuji. Three weeks ago when I did the test with the 55-200, after coming back to Fuji, I replicated this test. My best keeper rate with the X-T1, in two runs, was 18% .... only 4 of the 22 frames in a short burst were sharp. I seriously contemplated returning to Olympus as the performance was much better, but I love the Fuji IQ and lenses. I decided not to be rash and await the promised firmware ... Fast forward to today and Firmware 4.0 .... drumroll please, 76% sharp in a 21-frame burst, 16 sharp and 5 unsharp. First attempt was 63%, 22 sharp, 9 not sharp. Ecstatic with the positive changes in this firmware. Way to go Fuji. I am hoping to get the 50-140 someday soon, and I'm positive with that lens the percentages would be even better! The most difficult thing with mirrorless and CAF is framing - keeping the subject in the focus area when you don't have a live image is a challenge and for this, DSLR's are far superior. Attached is a SOOC example shot, no crop, nothing but resizing:
  15. I did a test this morning of the new firmware, using the 16-55 f/2.8 lens. The lighting was very poor and subject was backlit, a situation which used to cause this camera a lot of problems. The camera was in CL mode, auto ISO (varied between 400 and 800), f/2.8, 1/125 shutter and I used the central af point (smallest size) aimed at the school badge. http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-1.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-2.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-3.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-4.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-5.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-6.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-7.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-8.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-9.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-10.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-11.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-12.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-13.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-14.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-15.jpg http://sandsphoto.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/backlit-16.jpg You can draw your own conclusions, but I was impressed with the improvement.
